When do your kids wake up on Christmas morning?

I certainly remember the days when I barely got into bed and then got back out because Santa had come. Whew..those were long days! That being said this is the first year the kids went to their dads. We had our presents on Christmas Eve. No believers in Santa anymore. I was so looking forward to my first year not having anything to do on Christmas day. Sadly and oddly enough my eyes were open at 5 a.m. and I have piddled around all day thinking about the days when the kids would be messing around the house and putting stuff together.

Enjoy it while you can..it is over tooooo quickly. And trust me, I never thought I would miss it but I do!

We had to wake our kids. At 8 and 10 you would think that they would be up before dawn...nope, but I always am...so I finally convinced DH to wake them at 6:30.

my 6 year old was up in our bed at 1 am. Than every hour is it time yet is it time yet until 5 am her and I went out to turn on the disney channel until 6 am when I made husband crawl out of bed and woke up the 3 year old. I did make them open one at a time making it last over an hour!!! I did not mind because their faces are priceless!!!!

My DS7 was out of bed at 3AM with a big "OMG, OMG he came! he came!" I tried to put him back to bed twice. Once the adreneline kicked in, he was wayyyyyy too excited to go back to bed. Fankly, I'd be thrilled with 5AM. No one is allowed to open anything until everyone is together and I love that hour or so with my kids before they wake up daddy.

Christmas Day is long. We are at my inlaws for brunch by 11 and dinner at my parents by 3pm. My DS7 was beyond exhausted by 5ish or so last night and his behavior started to really go downhill. But, I can remember being the same way growing up. Frankly, I'll be really sad when I have to wake my kids on Christmas morning.

Kids woke up at 7 am. but Christmas eve day I spent the whole day getting them tired. I took them outside to play or a few hours and they went to sleep around 9-10 pm. Wewere very tired Christmas morning though after all the late nights wrapping gifts.

Sorry can't really relate! My 9 and 7 year old got up about 7:30 and I went downstairs with them. DH and my 4y old still sleeping. We watched TV for a bit, I know we are cruel, they sit just looking at the gifts and stockings but know they can't open till everyone is up. At 8 we went and woke up the 4y and DH and then we opened!

Mine did not get up too early 8:00 ish. Now I was rather suprised DS5 was not up earlier, I guess he saves those for Sunday mornings after "regular" weeks when everyone would like to sleep in. I was actually up first, trying to get a headstart.

My 2 yo is up between 5:30-6:30 every morning, and the others (5 and 7) are up by 6:30, so I'm happy if Christmas morning starts around 6 or so. This year, we had to wait for the 2 yo to get up (around 6:30). It figures that the only day he sleeps longer is when everyone else is up and ready!

I was really surprised by my kids. When I was a kid we were regular 5AM risers for Christmas Morning. My kids, you need a crow bar to get them out of bed. 8AM with full sunshine in his face did not wake up DS6. This was the boy who was so excited he could not fall asleep the night before. DD4 was similar, did not want to get up. Me, on the other hand thought I heard a noise a my door at 4am. It was the cat wanting in. I sorta dosed waiting for the inevitable stampeed of children that never came. Still it was nice to have a decent nights sleep before tearing into presents

Dd1 threw up on dd4 in bed on Christmas morning at 7:30 am. That woke everyone up....so once we changed everyone's pj's...it was off to see what Santa brough. Dd1 recovered from her stomach troubles and rallied for the presents!

I love christmas morning. I totally can't relate. My kids are 5 & 9, I have plenty of time to sleep, I figure I only get 18 - 21 Christmas mornings ever with them as "kids"
I also am hoping that they believe in Santa as long as possible and mine will be 10 & 6 next year. I believed in Santa til I was 12.
Yes, I'm exhausted on Christmas, but they deserve to have their excitement and it's 1 day a year. I figure I can manage. Any way you can get them to bed on Chrismtas eve?
My kids sleep until between 7 & 8 every day though, so it's easier for me. It doesn't matter how early or late they stay up the night before. (Except at Disney! I had them so confused at Disney they didn't what day or night it was.. hee hee)
I'm sorry you were so tired! I hope you got to rest today!

All my kids sleep in the same room on Christmas eve and are not allowed out of the room until my Dh I say it's ok. Usually they wake up yelling Merry Christmas at 5:00. This year at 3:57 I hear my DS14 yelling Merry Christmas! I would have loved to have been able to sleep till 5.

Mine sleep normally. Didn't get up until 8:30 yesterday, opened gifts about an hour later, when we got the sleeper sofa (we were at WL) put away and I vacuumed the floor, etc.

WL on Christmas morning sounds wonderful--did you stay in a villa or cabin? Perhaps that's something to aim for next year! Hope you enjoyed your stay!:santa:
