the christmas lights thread got me thinking, when do you take down the christmas wreath on your front door? What about Kissing Balls/Christmas Balls? I still have mine up, even though any indoor decorations have been long packed away.

I usuallu take everything down before Jan 1 but I was sick this year and my wreath is still up-- I need to take care of that this weekend (thanks for reminding me :teeth: )

My Wreath is still up but then again so is my tree. This weekend this are both coming down. CAn you tell me what a Kissing Ball is. I have never heard of this but I'm thinking "I want one!"

I just took the wreath off my front door last night. I've actually been meaning to do it for the past few days but just kept forgetting.

Your mention of kissing balls reminded me of a story, and I hope it's okay to tell it here. Last Christmas my daughter, (14 at the time), and I were going into a craft store. They had a big handlettered sign on the door that said, "We have big, kissing balls". Well, my daughter just looked at me and I looked at her and we both cracked up laughing. Once we were in the store, we couldn't stop laughing, so I told my daughter, "We need to stop this, everyone is going to think we're nuts."

Well, the mention of the word, "nuts", really put us over the edge and we ended up leaving the store because neither one of us could pull ourselves together long enough to pay for anything. :teeth:

my wreath is still on my front door...
we never use the front door...so I always forget it's out there!

since our trash pick up already passed this week...I guess i"ll take it down next week!

What in the world are "kissing balls"? Sounds, uh, not very nice... :rotfl:

I take the Christmas wreath down when I take down all the other stuff. I then put up a wintery looking wreath. Right now my door is bare so I need to go to AC Moore today to buy one!

Um, did you read my post above? We didn't think it sounded very "appropriate" either! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

They're actually round styrofoam balls with evergreen, or holly leaves, attached to them, sometimes with a red bow, and a ribbon to hang them up with.

lol. here's a link to what kissing balls look like. we have a big farmers porch and they look very nice hanging along it. I hate to take them down, mine still look so nice.

We have three wreaths on the fron of our house and that side gets a lot of sun. If they dry out and turn a reddish brown, we leave them up until Valentines Day!!!

I read your reply after I posted mine! :teeth: I would have been in the store laughing right along with you. Of course I'm the one who likes to go to Dick's Sporting Goods store and snicker about that. One time my son was picking out a baseball glove there and asked if he could get a new ball. Of course he didn't ask that way. He said, "Mom, can I get a ball, I don't have balls at home!". I was :rotfl: , especially since he didn't mean to say that. I'm not the most mature person when it comes to this sort of thing! :rotfl2:

I was expecting to see one pinecone in the middle of that wreath. :teeth:

Isn't it sort of painful to kiss those?

I am ashamed to say I have 2 wreaths up. I just cant bring myself to take down the small of green I can see. My kissing ball came down with the other Christmas decorations.

I also have a pile of snowman stuff that I leave up until February. That's winter stuff or so I tell my DH! :teeth:
