When do you take down your Christmas tree?

We are also a "take it down after New Year's" kind of family. I am soooo not ready for that task.

Yep, ours comes down on New Year's Day too. I love my decorations to much to take them down right away!

On Epiphany, of course. That is the 12th day of Christmas. It goes up on Dec. 24th and comes down on Jan. 6th -- 12 days.

Ours is down...packed up and out of sight.

We put ours up early, and I was ready to reclaim the living room. I don't know whose idea it was that you can never have too many lights or too many ornaments, but right now I am thinking that next year, we are only going to have one string of lights and about a dozen ornaments. It took FOREVER to put all that stuff away!

That's DH tradition, my family took our's down on NYE, something about bad luck if it was still up in the new year.

Ah, ha! So that's what I have been doing wrong all these years!

My DM used to get into "discussions" with DH over the tree being up on NYD. We always had pork or ham on NYD, something about the pig pushes his nose forward when looking for food, good luck. While poultry scratches backwards looking for food. This was another of my late DM's holiday traditions, DH still finds it amusing. Though his DM still gets mad that he won't eat fish on Xmas eve and like he's going to change at 43.

Ours got put away yesterday (day after Christmas). Like a previous poster, we put ours up early (day after Thanksgiving) and I'm ready for it to be back to normal after Christmas. I'm also leaving on a trip by myself on Friday and didn't want to leave it all up and then have to put it away when I returned.

New Years Day we take ours down. I am already making a pile of cards, stockings and nick-knacks to pack away. The lights outside we may wait to take down, but we will definitely un-plug them.

We put it up when we get tired of it, usually the week after Christmas. This is also due to DH being off the week between Christmas and New Years. Ours will probably come down tomorrow. I'm ready to have my living room back to normal!! ;)

Not until Ephiphany, but with 3 trees I may take down the one in the Den. I was going to take down the LSU one in the kitchen, BUT since we are Sugar Bowl bound I will wait until the 4th for that one. The only one I will leave up is the big one in the living room. I think I will take down most of the nativity today, but leave up the Holy family, stable and the wise men. Stockings will also come down today. Im kinda ready for the house to get back to normal, but NOT ready for the holidays to be over yet.

We too put ours up early and I am ready to reclaim my living room. However its going to have to wait till the weekend after new years day because DH is going away on buisness New years day and with DS and the massive amount of christmas stuff we own its a 2 person job. I have slightly started by trying to find homes for all the new stuff we and DS got.

Epiphany - that's 12th night for the non-liturgical. We put it up after church 4th Sunday Advent, but did it early this year since the 24th was Sunday.

Christmas Day or the day after for us. It is challenging enough to keep the kids out of the tree before Christmas.

We try (mostly my DW ) to keep our tree up until the end of January. We cut it fresh every year around my BD (12/12), and so much goes into decorating it, we hate to take it down.:goofy:

We like to leave the tree and lights up for New Years Eve, it makes it feel more festive. But I'm ready to start packing away the rest of the decorations and take down the tree and lights on New years day or the day after.

Normally, the first week in Jan. But this year, I'm really torn. We got an especially beautiful tree this year. I'm too sad to see it go.
