I try to do mine the day after turkey day but for some reason this year I am soooo ready to put mine up....maybe because I got tons of stuff at target last year after christmas and I want to put it up lol or because we are going to wdw in Dec and I am getting to much in a hurry! So when do you guys put up your lights?:santa:

I was just asking my husband today what he thought about us getting the christmas stuff out and putting it up. I think for me it is the cold front we got last week that has me in the holiday mood. We usually wait until day after thanksgiving too....
i saw do it now =)

The day after Thanksgiving:santa: This year we(I) will decorate the outside and just a little on the inside. We will be at WDW :santa: for Christmas :santa: this year so I am not going to put up a tree:eek: .

We don't put them up until after DS5's bday, which is mid-December. I guess my thinking is since his bday is not far from Christmas, I would like to keep them separate for him as much as possible, since alot of people just insist on combining them...:confused3

We are going to probably put lights up this weekend if the weather stays nice and then every weekend until TG we are going to put a few more decorations up. I like to have the house decorated for Christmas for TG because I am usually gone and it is my Christmas with my DFI's family. I put the tree up for Thanksgiving so that the kids will decorate it while the adults commiserate. This year we are getting married on December 13th :santa: :bride: so TG will be "Our" Christmas with the families since we will be in WDW for Christmas! Yahooo!:cool1:

Oh my goodness only 40 more days! :lovestruc

Usually the day after Thanksgiving :santa: This year I have to make sure that I do, since we are going to WDW on Dec 6th till the 13th and then the following weekend my brothers and their children come to visit and exchange gifts and then :wizard: it's Christmas  Happy Dance!!

lol I am glad I am not the only one getting antsy for it! My dd2 b day is dec 21st so we will already have deco up but we make sure to have a party for her anyway so that it is not combined...poor baby not alot of people are in town for her b day but we still have a small party anyway. We are going to be in wdw Dec 11-19 so our stuff will be up and ready when we get back...we are just having a small Christmas though because our trip is our present....our boys will be with their other parents this year for Christmas so it will just be my dh,dd2 and myself so we will just put a small gift for her under the tree, we are doing presents for them at wdw under the tree in our room....so no christmas shopping for me this year:cool1: I am paying for my parents to go to wdw while we are there for their gift and everyone else will get cards....every other year we have a big christmas at home with family.:santa:

The day after Thanksgiving here as well. Livie, I know exactly how your dd feels. My DD's birthday is Dec. 24th, no one is ever around for her actual birthday. We are having her party on Dec. 19th this year because my inlaws are going to Denver to vist my Brother in law and his family and won't be around for her birthday or Christmas. I am hoping maybe some people can come then.

My DH won't let me put up the tree until Dec 1. He says we are just rushing the holidays. Man is he WRONG!!! If I could our tree would be up the day after turkey day. We are leaving to WDW the day after Thanksgiving and I asked if we could put it up early I got a big fat NO. I tried to plead my case but it didn't work. I'll show him this thread and maybe he'll see it my way. (Well at least one can hope).

Usually after Thanksgiving, but DH says he wants to do it November 9th. So I'm up for it.

No special reason for 11/9, it's his last weekend off until after Christmas (he works in retail :sad1: )

Usually start Thanksgiving weekend by cleaning really well, and then the decorations go up gradually throughout the week. I can't put decorations up in a dirty house. I got that from my mother, and it's stuck!:goodvibes

We always start the day after Halloween. This year is no exception. We are finishing things up tonite. It's Christmas here already WOOHOO!

We don't put them up until after DS5's bday, which is mid-December. I guess my thinking is since his bday is not far from Christmas, I would like to keep them separate for him as much as possible, since alot of people just insist on combining them...:confused3

I wish we could do that. My son will be 5 this year and his bday is the 28th. Its just not enough time to get it all down. In the past we have just done his bday late, mid January. Though to be honest I've never felt people cared less about his day than my other childrens.

oddly, a priest at our former parish railed against this. He said that the Christmas festivities should be held until Christmas...as in, the old fashioned idea of decorating on Christmas Eve.

We do a tree, but I also have an Advent Wreath, a Jesse Tree, a creche, and collections of Nutcrackers and St. Nicholases. If I left everything to the last minute, it would never get done.

So, I do it the first Sunday of Advent. It kicks off that season in the church year in a way that makes it obvious to my kids that we're no longer in Ordinary Time.

I'm a traditionalist: Christmas Eve. It stays up for the 12 days of Christmas, and comes down on Epiphany (Jan. 6th.)

I get really sick of Christmas overkill too early. I try to stay out of stores as much as possible between Halloween and mid-December, to limit my exposure so that I don't get sick and tired of Christmas before December even arrives.
