This is inspired by the thread concerning how much cleaning a person does before leaving for work. I was surprised by how many people actually make the bed, a very low priority in my household.

I make the bed before I walk away from it when I get up. It is so easy to do it then, and would be too easy to leave it unmade if I waited! BTW, I can't STAND to see an unmade bed! I am one of those folks who makes the bed in a hotel when I get up too.

It sounds weird, but I found that if I make the bed every a.m., I am more apt to keep the whole house neater and more in order. Must be a psychological thing for me:rolleyes:

My dh made me anal about making the bed every day. I never used to make it before I met him.

My DM would roll over in her grave if I left the bed unmade. Since I have gone back to work my DH makes the bed after he gets dressed. I've been off work for the last two weeks after surgery and since I'm still in bed when he leaves it's up to me to do it.

It's the first thing I do right after my shower!

lol I just did a post like this...I'm a doofus for not seeing this one.

Very rarely do I make it but i do like the look when I do...just is very low on my priority list...

As soon as I get out of it. Unless of course DH is still in it, but that is rare. He is an early riser like I am.

I make it right after I take my shower and get dressed. On the rare occasion that I don't do it then- I hate to come home in the afternoon and see I haven't made the bed.

Only if I’m having company! I live alone so I feel like it’s just a waste of time. It’s a shame though, since I have a beautiful comforter that I rarely see because it’s folded up at the end of the bed. But if I made the bed, the cats would be sleeping on the comforter, which I don’t really want since it is not washable.

There wasn't a poll category for my answer, as I don't "formally" make the bed. I just pull the sheets up to the pillows and then throw the comforter back in place. I don't do any tucking in, etc.

So, it's somewhat presentable, but not formally made... I usually try to formally make it on the weekend, when there's more time.

I make the bed just before I start getting ready. I can't stand getting into a bed that has not been made.

Growing up I never made my bed (unless threatened!) ;) but now I can't stand an unmade bed. I've actually made it right before going to bed  just because I can't stand getting in to an unmade bed.

I make my bed first thing (after my shower) in the morning, and I make up the baby's crib. My 8 y/o son makes his bed (so beautifully) each morning too. It's a MUST at our house.

Just as the kitchen table must be quickly cleaned up after dinner & the vase in the middle of the table is placed on top of my (late) Mother's favorite doily.

Makes the house feel neater.

I wait until I go home in the afternoon. I'm not coordinated enough to make my bed in the morning.
