When do the Awaken Summer Savings deals show up on Disneyworld.com?

We're (DH, 2 DD's and I) are going to Disney World for the first time in summer of 2017. Ideally DH and I would like to surprise our girls on Christmas morning with the exciting news. So if I book our 2017 summer trip this December, will the good summer deals already be up?

For our early June 2016 trip, the discounts came out Dec 27th. But those were only good through 6/11 (our departure date) and were called "late spring" discounts. It was the end of March maybe before summer deals came out.

I guess I'll have to see what deals are out when the time comes to make reservations. Are the late spring discounts similar in price to the Awaken Summer Savings ones?

I think late spring was similar. We booked the room only discount. It was 30% off deluxes....maybe 30% off moderates, and 25% off values...I think. I don't know the details of any package deals because we didn't do it that way. We bought our tickets from a broker because we felt that was a better deal.

You don't have to have the trip actually booked to surprise the kids, unless you won't go without a discount.

Last year we booked our mid-late June trip on 3/19. I'm pretty sure that's the date the deal came out. I can't remember if it was Disney Visa or general public offer, but if you want summer, then start really watching the boards between Dec-Mar. You'll also find that late summer usually has a better room discount (i.e: 20% off early summer for moderates, 25% off late summer for same room...etc) We had a room discount 30% off deluxe. We recently just booked free dining for this August, but it's late in the month so I think it technically counts as a fall discount.
