It seems like August is hottest? But need to balance heat with lines. But also want more than a week at Christmas break. Best times for teachers in WDW?

We went in the first week in June (just after school got out). It was really hot.

We are going again during Thanksgiving week (I used my personal days). Next time we may go the week before Christmas or spring break week. Alot depends on how flexible your school is with personal time.

We go in August (well, we've been there once). I can only go during our school breaks. Taking any personal days in conjunction with vacation time is frowned upon. I don't know if I'm brave enough yet to face spring break crowds.

We have done June, December and October (Fall Break). And we are doing March/April next year. If you have a Fall Break, October is the best! Our Spring trip I'm using both of my personal days to pull it off (carries over to the week following Spring Break, so I'm using my days for that Mon and Tues).

Most NJ teachers are on their way now for Jersey Week:)

Hmmm. Are there reasons to choose June over August or vice versa? What about the spring break over summer or vice versa? Actually, I'd go no matter when it "had" to be. Crowds and heat and humidity, oh well.

I am a teacher too and have gone during the summer or during our Spring Break in the past. Next October I will be going in October during Fall Break and using two personal days to be able to stay a week. :earsgirl: Taking personal days after vacation days is not encouraged but allowed if not often abused. I can't wait!!

During State Testing Week of course! :rotfl:

The smart ones figure a way to get a school trip out of it and make enough parents go along so they have a nice relaxing trip.

I usually go the last two weeks of Aug depending on if my son has band camp. I love the last week but the 2nd to last week has been great also. We in the northeast do not go back to school until after Labor Day. This year I started before Labor Day but that is rare.

We went in the second week of June this year, but now I am planning for Easter Break. It will easily be as busy as June, but at least it won't be that hot and maybe we won't get hit with a hurricane. We got Hurricane Arlene this year. Luckily it wasn't a bad one.

Hubby is a teacher. We go for two weeks in August. We've been doing this for over 15 years now. We used to love Labor Day Weekend and the week leading up to it, but now our schools start before labor day so this is out. We also like to squeeze in another trip somewhere in March or April. Our schools have a week in April. We used to always go during this week, but now our kids schedules prevent this so we try to do a quick 4 night stay in March. I would love to go during Christmas vacation, haven't been able to yet but hope to someday. Basically we go when we can. My husband is not able to take time off, with the possible exception of a day here and there. This has worked well for us for all these years.

Good Luck and Happy Planning!!

:rotfl: I thought Jersey week happened because of a state teachers convention?? How do teachers get time off if they are supposed to be at a convention??

Both my parents teach and we're usually down there the last week of June or the last week of July. It's crowded, but that's what we're used to. :)

As soon as school lets out! Usually the first week of June. That's what we did in 2004 and again this year. Our last day is June 1, we fly out on June 3. Now I just pray we don't have any snow days to make up.

We have gone in Aug. the last 2 years next year is June with my parents. It is hot in Aug, but it is that way all summer anyway. The lines are pretty good and I have all summer to work a second job for plenty of extra spending money on the trip. You spend about 1/2 your time inside anyway the heat can be bearable. :earsboy: :earsgirl: :dog: :pug: :dog2:

DH and I are both teachers - we normally go first two weeks in August, but the District we both work for has made some changes (school is out in May - starts mid-August). So, this year we will visit last week in July 2006!!!!

Thanks for all the great replies! Maybe we'll try an August trip next. Planning on May this year as I'm doing my continuing ed but not teaching M-F right now and DH can take his vacation by then.

Can't wait!!! Got a Passporter 06 ordered, been checking flight configurations, etc!! Wahoooooooooooo :Pinkbounc

I have been the week between Christmas and New Years and also the 3rd week in June. The week between Christmas and New Years was busy, but the weather was perfect. We used the UG touring plans and even with three toddlers saw and did a ton of stuff. We avoided EMH parks and arrived at opening. It was a magical trip. We went in June the last time and it was so humid and miserable. The crowds weren't that much more manageable than at Christmas time. It almost was worse because we were cranky from the humidity, so standing in line was brutal. We have a picture of us just after we arrived on Main Street, first thing in the morning, and all of our t-shirts are soaked from sweat. Whereas we didn't take an afternoon break at Christmas we had to in June because it was too hot. This year we are going for Presidents week. It will be crowded but the weather should be manageable. We are not allowed to use our personal days to extend a long weekend or holiday.
