When do people start X-mas decorations at the Fort?

We're arriving on Thanksgiving day and are treating our trip like a Christmas trip. I'm curious if a lot of people at the Fort start decorating for Christmas around this time? We'll be in a cabin and will definitely have some decor on the inside, not sure what to do about the outside yet. We're flying so that limits me somewhat. Anyway, just curious what everyone else does.

The campsites will be covered up with inflatables - someone last year called it "Inflate-A-Fort"! :rotfl: We were there for Thanksgiving last year and it was decorated to the hilt. The cabins don't decorate like the campsites do, but I sure was wishing I had brought more than just rope lights. Take as much much as you can lug on the plane and have a great time!

There will be plenty of sites decorated for Thanksgiving, and more and more as you get closer to Christmas. We were there the first 3 weeks of December, and half the fun was going looping most nights to see who else had moved in, unpacked and decorated.

Great time to be at the Fort! :santa:

Halloween comes down and TG and Christmas goes up.

By Thanksgiving day, Christmas decorations will already be everywhere. Including the official decorations put up by WDW management.

If you would like to see the Inflate-A-Fort, check out this trip report: Thanksgiving 2008 at the Fort

If you have never visited the Fort at this time of year, let me highly suggest that you rent a golf cart so that you can "loop" around and look at all the decorations. If you have not done so already, call the Bike Barn at 407-824-2742 and reserve a cart. They run out of carts at Thanksgiving. It is possible that they are already fully booked. You can cancel your cart reservation without penalty 24 hours before your arrival, so this is a no brainer. If you change your mind, cancel. But, if you don't have a reservation, you probably won't get a cart on Thanksgiving day.

TCD, thanks so much for the advice on the golf cart - I emailed Kenny. And thanks for that link! I sent it to my hubby at work. We're going T-Week 2009 and I'm so excited having seen the pics...but now it means I have to go shopping for inflatables!

Silly question...but how are all these inflatables powered....the campsite provides enough power source? Seems like some of those would be a spagetti bowl of extension cords.... great thread!:)

Spaghetti is a good description.

Some sites have four standard electric plugs. Some only have two. Some folks use power strips. Some use multiple extension cords. It is pretty amazing that it can be done. But it is.

Also remember that each site has a 50 Amp plug and a 30 Amp plug. Obviously your camper uses one of them, but with the right adapter, the other plug can be used for lights also.

A friend of mine is a CastMember that works for Reedy Creek. (Remember the lady that owns the skunk). Anyway, she says that while the Fort decorations are lots of fun, the folks on the fire department staff there cringe at Holiday time at the Fort with that "spaghetti" bowl of Extension cords. :-)
