When do I need all the money to buy a resale?

I'm not quite sure of the order. We've got several thousand dollars now, but we'll have to take out a loan for the rest. DH thinks we need to get the loan, then start looking. However, since we already have some points, we're limited to one use-year (our choice) so I think we should start looking now, then get the loan after we make a deposit (how much of deposit do we need, by the way?), sort of like when you buy a house-pick out a house, THEN get whatever loan you need. It's just that we want one particular use year, one particular resort, so I figure it'll take a while and we should start looking as soon as possible. I don't want to wait! Help, what should we do?

When I bought my resale, I had to put down $1000 when I made the offer, and the balance was due once the paperwork went to the closing company. ( after passing rofr ). The whole process went pretty fast, only 5 or 6 weeks in all. Good luck!
