I have been watching the prices of airfare for longer than I can remember. But here is my problem, the prices for Sept keep falling. I know that I should hurry and buy tickets to ensure that we get the dates and hopfully time that we would like but I can't help but wait for the next drop. How much longer should I wait? We leave on Sept. 14 and we have no tickets.

Check Southwest today as Orlando is the city of the week. :D Be sure you book at least 14 days out or they will go way up!:D

That is most definatly my cut off. I want to have the tickets at least a month before we leave. I checked SW and they are one of the most expensive airlines from Portland. I couldn't believe it!

One month is about latest I am willing to book my tickets. You have probably done all your research but if you haven't tried bookingbuddy.com, I would recommend it. You only have to enter your info once and you can check all the airlines & discount websites.

Remember that airlines will often issue vouchers if the fare drops again before you travel.

SusanD - please explain your response "often issue vouchers". I purchased Continental tickets at 250 each and now they are 115 - is it possible for me to get some sort of refund and if so how do I go about getting it?

Debjac, It is possible to get a refund from some airlines. I have never booked with Contintenal but most airlines do something. Call the reservation depatment and see what they say. Many will give you a voucher to be used within a year for the difference in fare, some will refund the amount to your credit card if there is NO change in the flights and a seat is still open. Good luck!:D

Hey from your neighbor across the Columbia River. I to have been watching ticket prices. Started in January. I bought a couple of weeks ago. I don’t think that you’ll do much better than the $222.00 that is quoted on MSN. Considering that around $58.00 of that is all them there taxes and such. Makes the base ticket only $164.00.
