When did your child stop using...

DS uses a straw cup or a sports top because he likes to wander around with his drinks, and I don't want him wandering with a cup. He can use a cup though, but I don't see us giving up straw cups anytime soon.

He has never been in a traditional highchair though, he started out in Stokke Tripp Trapp and will likely use it for years. We did remove the baby bar around 12 months though. He can sit in a real chair (at 20 months), but the Tripp Trapp is nice since it puts him at the perfect height to our table.

I had a restaurant style high chair, and used it til they were too big, probably around 3. As for sippys, of course they could drink out of regular cups by 2 or so, but we still use the sport cup type sippy cups, and my kids are 9 and 11. Even I drink out of a straw cup most of the time at home. I have enough house work to do without cleaning up unnecessary messes!

Both of them were out of the high chair no later than 20 months. I'm not sure when we stopped using sippy cups, but they starting drinking from glasses at the table quite early. When we go out and about they often have their water bottles with them though (as do I, and DH). The only difference is these bottles are harder (the Sigg ones) than their plastic straw cups and are marketed as water bottles whilst the others were sippy cups. I really don't see that much of a difference - they both have the same kind of straw mechanism :confused3

My dd stopped using a sippy at 3, a regular high chair at 3, and a stroller at 3.We still sometimes use a high chair in restaurants ( if they do not have a booster) because she is real petite and only weighs 35 lbs ( she will be 5 next week) .

My dentist told me that tooth decay can occur when sippy cups are used extensively, as it pours the liquid onto the back of the teeth, which doesn't get brushed/cleaned as well as the front.

not an issue if they're only drinking water. Our pediatrician mentioned the same thing but when I told her the kids only drink water from them she said "Oh, no big deal then". :thumbsup2

My kids are 4,4 and 7 and still use sippy cups. When we're at home and sitting at the table for a meal, they use regular cups, no issues. The sippy cup is very convenient though for during the day and me not having to worry that they are spilling water in the living room, or even all over the table while they are working on their little craft projects and stuff. I know I could just partially fill a cup every time they're thirsty but then I would do nothing but stand by the sink partially filling children's cups all day, and I've got more to do with my time than that ;)

DD is 2 and in a booster chair.. sometimes a highchair if the booster isn't stable (in restaurants). As for the sippy, she's still on a sippy and I'm not sure when they go off of them.

We have a water cooler, and keep cups underneath, so they just help themselves. :thumbsup2 I have to say, it's rare for them to spill, even in the living room - they've been on regular cups for years, though. I love my cooler! :lovestruc

well i have 4 kids and all of them were out of the high chair by 2
as far as sippy cups that all depends
my daughter who is 6 still drinks out of a sippy cup but they are the older ones like tupperware with no stoppers .
My oldest who is now 11 gave his up at around 3 to 4, they never seemed to have what they have today to buy for the little ones
My youngest son is 2 and a half and he can drink out of anything and very good at it but with babysitting 2 other kids it is easier to have a sippy cup for him he did do straw cups by playtex but he kept bitting the straws and they are a choking hazard as they bit off easy.
He will drink out of a regular cup and a juice cup at home lots but ont he road or when things get busy sippieers are easier. he is now going into the new sipsters by playtex they look like adult commuter mugs and they are cool , they still have the suction piece but you can take it out .

If I had room for anything else in my kitchen, I would so get one. My mom has service from Poland Springs and it's fabulous. Being able to just walk over to the spigot and make tea is so nice. I imagine it would be good for oatmeal in the mornings too.
