Ds was done by 18 mo during the day. He still uses a nighttime diaper but that's fine by me. When he starts waking up dry then I'll know he's done.

Yes, he still needed help getting dressed/undressed at 18 mo but I didn't see that as a reason not to let him use the potty when he wanted. I mean, seriously, who wants to prolong changing dirty diapers?

Or paying for diapers?? I think we are going to go ahead and buy a potty this weekend and just let her see it and when she points to her diaper before she needs to poop, she will take her to it and see what happens! It cant hurt!

You may not need to wait that long. My DD night-trained within a few months of day-training, when she had a sleepover at preschool and the teacher (who had only known her as an underwear-wearer) forgot to put a diaper on her at bedtime. Miss-Woke-Up-Multiple-Time-In-The-Night-Asking-For-A-Dry-Diaper was dry all night pretty much from there out. She was older than yours, so you've got physical maturation to wait for, but apparently physical maturation isn't 100% of it.

This was just the point my DH and I were discussing last night! My DD was poop-trained (for lack of a better word :)) pretty much as soon as we got her on a potty at 14 months. Since she was in underwear at 17 months, we've only had a poop accident once. Um... I'll definitely go for changing less poopy diapers!! Sure, we've had a few more wet accidents and have done an extra load of laundry or so, but normally we just add something wet to our normal nightly load so it doesn't add anything extra. And we haven't bought diapers since then, either - DEFINITE cost savings! I totally think it has to be up to the child to want to train early, but if they're ready, there is no point in delaying for something silly like learning to dress themselves - they have to learn it anyway then, why not as your life is getting easier? ;) I hope it goes well this weekend - you never know, and you're right, it definitely can't hurt!

My son started sitting on the real porcelain potty at 9 months, using a cushy training ring. Matthew would strain to poop, and was able to strain better by sitting on a potty and holding the handles. I just sat him there whenever he woke up, after he ate, when I took a shower, whatever. If he pottied, big prizes (marshmellows). If not, no big deal. By 14 months, he was poop and pee trained on the potty. By his 2nd birthday, he was 24 hour potty trained.

My daughter was in day-care, so they didn't follow my routine during the day. However, on the weekends and every morning/night we did the same thing. She was totally trained by 2 years old as well.

No stress, no tears, no opinions, no fear. I simply don't understand the concept of "waiting" to potty train.

I potty trained my son a little before he was 2 1/2.. It only took about a week so I am sure I could have done it sooner...
