.... announce today...so for me it was June 9th when the Yuma Arizona temperature was over 108 degrees..we usually don't feel that temperature 🌡️ 🌡️ 🌡️ until the week of the Fourth...and usually stops Labor day...the last Saturday in October was when the temperature no longer reached 100 degrees

As a place that is historically hot, we had 5 record highs broken in 2024. A couple of days at 113. A 111, a 110 and 103 in October. But I admit, I tolerate the heat better at age 67 than I did at age 17.

Since 1850.

Not on "Earth" but on Record which started in 1850.

Maybe it was the hottest on Earth but, no one knows

"Ken..I will take weather "

Thank you for the update.. wife always asks why I am on this site..
Well today I learned weather history that indeed 1850 is the preindustrial baseline and that 🌎 🌎 has been warming since though the 1850 average was 56f and 13c...then an organization Central England Data..had credence in Farenhart and Celsius and not the fellow at 1,000 AD...so in 1953 a scientific document was published .

...so the Final jeopardy answer ... category weather ..this man published a document in 1953 that is considered a baseline for historical temperatures

Our temps this summer just seemed hotter, overall. And then Fall weather didn't seem to arrive until super late. Winter only recently showed it face (still very little snow though.)

It’s strange because the weather we’ve had in my part of the world has been fairly awful this year. Summer was almost a total washout: cold, rainy, damp and grey. We have had several brief heatwaves lasting a few days, but otherwise, I haven’t noticed the growing temperatures at all.

Our summer was pretty mild compared to other years. Very dry but not so hot. Zero 100+ degree days like we have some summers.

Although, I knew it was hot here in NC this summer, some 50+ years ago I spent 12 months in Vietnam. Most veterans that had that wonderful assignment will tell you that the year round heat and humidity there makes NC seem like a dip in a cool mountain stream. My guess with climate change happening Vietnam might possibly be cooling down. Don't know and have absolutely no desire to ever return to find out.

Given that dinosaurs used to roam on what we now call South Dakota and New Hampshire, no--it's NOT the hottest year on earth! The earth heats and cools, it has for millions of years. P.S. the mountains of New Hampshire were formed by glaciers melting, so it's also been much, much colder than we've known since recorded time.

I get what you're saying, but you could say that it was the hottest year ever recorded--that might be accurate. I just get amused when the forecasters get all worked up about--gasp!--cold weather in winter, and hot weather in summer. Like it's never happened before.

Where did you move from ?...we had a neighbor encouraged to move there from dry heat Yuma.. she last 2 months... back here now
Chicago suburbs for almost 30 years. DH was here for a number of years as a teen/young adult, so he's living his best life as a retiree. I don't mind the heat so much as the humidity. It's like breathing water sometimes.

I'll get used to it. Really.
