I know I am not even a year out but I am trying to plan when to do my Planning session. (ETA)
I'm planning on a may wedding (07). My 8 month mark would be september of 06. I would like to go on a visity in December but my DH2B works in retail and won't be allowed it off (not even for this I have already asked....he is in management).
Would January be too late to go?? Would 5 months be enough to decide everything??? (like food... assuming location would already be decided upon...I've seen all of them already.)

Thanks for any advice!

Are you referring to the site visit - which is typically when you pick locations, or your planning session? Site Visits are generally done around the one year mark so that you can select locations and secure a date. Your planning session is scheduled with your event manager (or whatever they are called now), and occurs 4-6 months out from your weding date. At your planning session is when you would meet with floral, do your food tasting, etc.

We did our one and only visit just over a year before our event. DH wanted to see what they could do before we made a final decision. We did everything else by telephone!

I am getting married in March 06, but did the site visit in May 05. We had tentative locations booked for our date, and just wanted to see them in person to make sure -- this also gave us an opportunity to see everything else (other ceremony & location options)

If you’re referring to the site visit where you select locations, I think it might be a little late if you want hard to get venues or are set on specific times. If you’re talking about the planning session where you have your cake tasting, choose flowers, etc., then I think that’s plenty of time. I just brought a binder with pictures of things I liked, and we went over everything with my EM. She was very helpful in assisting us with making our choices.
