When did Santa stop coming?

My DS-11 still believes. He is such a great kid, but a little immature. He believes in all things fairy tale, including the Claus. My DD-6 is very bright, not that my DS isn't, she just "gets" things quicker and I'm afraid she will let the cat out of the bag before he figures it out for himself.

I'm not sure how I want to handle this. Should I let him continue, drop a subtle hint, come right out and tell him? I really don't want to, I don't look forward to these days ending.:(

When did your child stop believing or has he/she?

I have NO idea what you are talking about. Santa still comes to my house, and I am a 37 ( ) year old mom. He goes to my parent's house too. ;)

He hasn't stopped! Our "kids" are 34 and 28 and have not lived at home for years. Santa still comes to fill stockings for all of us.

lol I feel pathetic. I still believed when I was in 4th grade and found out when I was told. I had suspicions but it was more fun believing...I found out one day when my older brother (sophmore at the time) and my mom came up and told me out of the blue. At the time, of course I already stopped believing in the other ridculous things like the Easter Bunny (how's a bunny supposed to hide easter eggs without dropping and cracking them anyway? :p) etc.

I'm a smart and mature person (seriously, I am) but I just think having something to believe in kind of added to the excitement. I think I got the first clue though a few years before my 4th grade year, when it was made official, when I recognized Santa's handwriting was my mom's (I was a very observant child).

I hate to break it to you though, but you'll want to tell him the truth soon because he's getting close to middle school and kids don't believe it anymore and he'll get teased and embarressed...especially if it's his little sister that informs him.

PS - when my mom and brother told me straight out, I started crying. lol! Just, if you do it that way, don't laugh. Big mistake by my mom and brother. They didn't laugh to be mean, but couldn't help it...but being as young as I was, I didn't understand.

:faint: No Santa??!!!??
If there's no Santa then why am I going to WDW at Christmas....because silly WDW has the "real" Santa. Now I wonder when DS 10 will decided that WDW doesnt really have the real Santa. :worried: Although if he found out before our trip it would make packing for our trip much easier. :teeth:

Never! DW and I are pushing 50 and kids are 13 through 21 and Santa still comes, just like clockwork!

I'm not sure how I want to handle this. Should I let him continue, drop a subtle hint, come right out

If he's like our kids, hell keep up the faith unbeknownst (as far as he knows) to you for a year or two after he discovers it. Then if Santa keeps coming, he'll ease right into it. Merry Christmas!!

Yep...still coming here too!!
I hope he never stops!! I still believe :teeth:

Not necessarily when did he stop coming, but more how you handled the subject. Is it don't ask don't tell? He hasn't said anything, so maybe I should just leave it alone. I know he would never bring it up at school if he knows his friends don't believe. I completely plan on Santa being here every year for the rest of our lives. I will always believe in the "spirit" of Santa. My parents never told me and I was 12 when suddenly one year I got nothing from him. I was shocked to not get anything. I guess they figured I already knew, but I didn't. But after that I sure did.:(

aww! What an awful way to find out (no, I'm not thinking your parents are cruel, mind you :) Just too bad!!). I guess if he doesn't have to worry about being teased, it's not as big of a deal. I just know how cruel middle school kids are and how they would take it.

Though I'm glad I don't believe in him anymore. I am more remembering St. Nicholas, the real guy from many years ago, in his kind giving nature, but also our family now focuses more on the "Reason for the Season" and Santa always seemed to get in the way of that when I was younger.

However, he's still young, and it won't hurt him, so I guess as long as he's not at risk of being teased and embarrassed, no problem...:) Every person is different!

He still comes to our house! At 19 and 16 the kids get up at 6 AM and race down the stairs to see the spoils!!

They may get old but they refuse to grow up! And Mommy likes it that way!

6 AM!!!!!!!

I may not believe, but it's more like 3 or 4 AM for me!!! :p :p LOL I'm serious...I love my sleep but I can't hold the excitement back any longer. :) Christmas is by far my favorite holiday. Always makes me sad when it's over after all the weeks of Christmas music and celebrations.

To follow up on what I've told some of you already...I still believe and Santa still comes to my house and I still send a letter to my mom to send to Santa to make sure I don't get anything too awful (LOL) but when I did 'find' out, it was from my younger sister and I was around 11 or 12 at the time making her 6 or 7 at the time...what can I say? I'm a believer in the magical, be it Disney or Santa ;)

My son was age 10 when he listened to the lies those other children told him about Santa :( I still believe in Santa, myself :)

My niece is 12 y/o & she does not really "believe" anymore due to all the kids in school telling her there is no Santa. She did ask her Mom & what she told her daughter was "once you stop believing, you stop receiving!" She has never asked or mentioned anything about Santa again! ;)

My DS is 8 & I hope he'll believe for quite a few more years. Christmas has become so much more magical for us since we had our kids.
