When Did I get Voted Off of Skinny Island #2: Castaway's Land Ho!!!!

I can't say for certain, because my little note pad with my weights is in my other purse, but I believe I am at
+/- 0 for the last two weeks (while on vacation!!) I'm thrilled with that!
I am going to start back on my walking again, although I think I logged a lot of miles during the 5 days at WDW. I probably sweated off everything I ate there, which was a lot!! We did the Deluxe Dining plan, so there was plenty of food.
I will be doing a TR and will post the link here when it's started if anyone wants to follow along.
Welcome to the new castaways!!

Will catch up tonight with everybodu\y! Stopped at my sister's work and had to log in to say I went to my WW meeting and weighed in to find out I am...

-6.2!!!!!!!! :cool1: :yay: :dance3:

So excited and so proud of myself. Through getting TOM last week and not having the best choices in the house and not making excuses not to be succesful!!!

Okay - off for a lunch date with Dan and a walk at the zoo!!!

What is everyone else's goals for the week?

Hi everyone. I'm just getting started today, so no weight changes to report, but I thought I'd take your suggestion and give myself some goals for this week.
1. Walk a minimum of 15 miles.
2. Drink at least 64 oz of water a day (goodbye diet pop:sad1:).
3. Stay within my points range (25-27) every day.

I'd love to add more, but I think i better start small and work up.

Have to add that I hope I do half as well as you guys next week.

Now, how do I make it smaller????

Aha, I figured it out! Woo Hoo!!!

I don't know what image hosting site you're using, but on photobucket there's an option to edit your photos, and you then you choose 'resize'.

Thanks. Got it! That's better. I don't think anyone wants that close of a view.

Get Piper's room cleaned!!! :scared1:

Barb- What I'd been letting Piper snack on were things like light string cheese, the new nature valley granola thins, baked lays/cheetos, fruit, frozen yogurt, 100 cal bags of popcorn...she seemed to enjoy it, and the things like the baked lays and granola thins were close enough to "junk" food, that she didn't feel deprived.

Good luck with the room. When I have to do my kids' rooms, I need a couple of days after to recouperate. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to look for those granola thins, I think he might like those.

lost 5.4 this week

Woo hoo! :cool1:

Welcome to the new castaways!!

That's awesome for 2 weeks! Sounds like you walked off most of what you ate. I'd be very interested in reading your TR.

One of the biggest things I learned on this thread was how much water I should be drinking every day. The formula suggested was to take your weight and divide it in half, and whatever number you get that's how many ounces of water per day you should be drinking. I know it sounds like a lot (for me it is, anyway) but it's really helped. I still drink some Diet Coke every day (sorry, but I'm not giving EVERYTHING up ;) ) but I'm down to 1 or 2 cans verses 4.

I love your weekly goals! I think that's a great idea. Hmmm... lemme see.... for me, here are mine:
1) Track my exercise every day
2) Do the longer Zumba DVD at least twice (and let myself do the shorter one on the other days)

Those are pretty lame, aren't they? I'll have to think on it and come up with a few more.

Welcome Dana, Sunny and Susan !

I did WW for many years and liked the program and lost about 50lbs, but I got too confident that I knew what/how much to eat and stopped losing weight. I finally switched over to SparkPeople. Its an online tracking tool and its FREE! You input your starting weight, your weight goal and your activity level and it will calculate how many calories you should eat per day. I really like not having to figure out points for things once I have the nutritional values. I actually have a much more balanced diet since I can see how many proteins/carbs/fat/fiber I’m eating per meal.

Patrick – I can only imagine how difficult it will be for you to go back to school. I bet there will be a lot of temptations around you since the cafeteria normally isn’t the best place for healthy food. I’ll bet you get a lot of comments from your classmates on how much you have changed over the summer. Anyone that is nasty or rude is just jealous of what you have accomplished. Don’t let them get you down. You have made a great life choice by eating right and exercising. You are almost at Skinny Island. You need to make it there and get it prepped for the rest of us. You CAN do it!!!

Amanda – You seem to be doing well with Piper gone this time. Hope you are enjoying your break.

Sheree – Welcome back! Can’t wait to hear all about your trip.

Barb – Way to go!!! I’ve heard that the last 10lbs are the hardest to lose, but you’ve got this down. I’m sure you can do it. Suggestions for late night eating – how about fruit? Its sweet but at least it will have fiber and fill him up. Does he like Hard Boiled Eggs? Apparently protein is supposed to make you feel full. I also do popcorn, lots of bulk (and I have to drink water with it) and fiber as well.

Julie – It’s funny that your sisters leader says that its harder to lose weight in the summer. I’d think it would be harder to lose weight in the winter with all the holidays around. At least in the summer your options for fresh fruit and veggies are way up. Oh, who am I kidding I don’t think its easy to lose weight in ANY season…

Tricia – Vacation is hell. I think your idea of stating officially your goals for tracking and exercise will help you keep yourself accountable. We’re here and together we can do it!

Dawn – Congratulations!!! What a great start to the week for you.

I’m not quite sure how this happened but I’m down -2.4 this week! With the girls weekend and having ice cream each day I thought for sure that I’d be up. Heck I’ll take it!!

For those of you new to the thread – I had a really bad week last week and finally made an appt for a physical. I had my Dr. Appt this morning and found out that my levels are off in a couple of different areas. I’m really low in Vit D and Iron and borderline off in my Thyroid levels. She decided to take another thyroid test to see what my levels are today. She suggested I look into the UltraSimple Diet by Mark Hyman to do for a week to see if eliminating processed foods, dairy and sugar would make me feel better. Has anyone done that diet plan before? Any recommendations or warnings? I have to go out and find the book since our library doesn’t have it.

:scared1: Haha, I dunno if I could swing that. 64 oz/day is a personal goal for me too...but half my weight? I think I'd be in the bathroom every half hour!

Congrats on your spectacular weight loss! I love seeing the before/after pics!

Welcome to our new castaways:thumbsup2

Well after sitting in a car for 18 hours and eating on the run I knew it wasn't going to be a great weigh in. I am -.4lb from last week. Next week will be much better I promise. I went for a walk this morning and I am not sure how far I walked as I forgot to out on my pedometer but it is not a short treke. I must have been booking it faster than I thought I could as I was sweating when I can home and thought this route would take me 30-40 minutes. Well I did it in 22:banana: Next time I will add another street into the mix to try to increase the time a little bit. I had to laugh though as I met 3 "seniors" out walking their dogs by the park and then passed 2 of them again later. I knew I was booking it when I walked the long way around by the time the lady with her dog came out the short cut. My new plan is to walk every morning and then most nights with hubby. Not sure about tonight though as they are calling for bad thunderstorms here. I am also going to introduce some upper body weight trainning back into my routine.

Have a great time on your date and at the zoo!!

Jane: I haven't heard of that diet. I hope someone on here has and can give you some advice. So glad you had some weight loss success this week and that the doctor is helping you get the iron and vitamin deficiencies under control.

I got FIVE new pairs of shoes on Friday and THREE new dressy outfits earlier in the week. Some of them are DARN HOT!! I'll get some pics done up this week and post them as soon as I get the chance. Two pairs of sandals were my reward for losing 25 pounds and the rest came from my spending money.

If anyone else out there has pics to share...feel free!!

I could really use some suggestions from y'all on something.....

My oldest DS is 13. He has suddenly found himself hungry all of the time. I know, it's probably growing boy stuff and all that. He seems to do fine during the day, but at night he gets REALLY hungry, sometimes at 10:00 or later (he's a night owl like DH, and DH will often let him stay up later than I would like, but that's another topic altogether  ) He's a little on the chubby side so I'm worried about him making good choices, but I don't want him to go to bed hungry all the time. So do you have any good suggestions for things he could snack on? I suggested trail mix - any other ideas? Oh, I should also mention he's a picky eater.

I'm a fan of offering protein w/ the carbs...my DS 12 would eat things like ramen noodles (evil sodium noodles! why do children love these?! why do I buy them sometimes?!) or pretzels all day long! PB&J sandwich, leftover meat w/ rice or noodles, eggs and toast, and he's been making his own bagel pizzas; mini pepperoni, low fat mozzerella, sauce... Mine is on the larger side too, but has grown about 4 inches in the last 6 months. Yours is probably hitting a growth spurt too!

Will catch up tonight with everybodu\y! Stopped at my sister's work and had to log in to say I went to my WW meeting and weighed in to find out I am...

Holy weight loss batman! Congrats!!

I haven't read that one, but I bet doing those things can't be bad...Let us know how the next test comes out

lost 5.4 this week
wow! I missed this one earlier...go grab your tree!!

my goal for this week is to
1. exercise every day
2. find some good food choices for school.
I vowed never to eat another ww or healthy choice meal again. I have coupons, they go on sale, I buy them, then I am annoyed and hungry after I eat them. Little chewy "chicken" nubs! With 5 rubbery green beans! gag! I am thinking about making some chicken dish on Sundays and portioning it out for the week. Something yummy with lots of veggies and a spicy but not creamy sauce. Any suggestions? Recipes?:confused3

:)

Went back and checked my note book - no change in two weeks on vacation!!! I edited my previous post. I'm way psyched!!!
Need to go back and read more of this new thread to get to know our new friends!

Exercise: arm work w/ 5 lb weights, crunches, leg lifts, etc

Breakfast - whole wheat toast w/ natural dark chocolate peanut butter; Yoplait light
Lunch - vegetable soup; English muffin
Snack - nacho cheese rice snacks; cocoa roast almonds
Dinner - 1 slice pizza; salad w/ bleu cheese dressing
Dessert - WW Strawberry Smoothie Bar

Total - 1396 cal
Water - 80 oz

I totally understand. School starts in a week and a half and I don't even know where the reading lists are!

WOW!!! If your 1535 is falling off the raft then I can't even see the raft from where I am!! :lmao: You're doing great, every once in a while you need a day to just "sit" and be ok with it! Don't sweat the small stuff, take a REALLY hot shower (or go sit in a hot tub if you have one available), and relax for a day. You'll save up enough energy to swim back to your raft!:thumbsup2

1st. Thank you. I needed that. 2nd. What's "1535" forgive me, I've been up since 5:15am (where's the coffee...).

Patrick- Here's the thing. I walked over 20 miles this week and it's all your fault. Okay..maybe not ALLLL your fault, but you definitely contributed. When I started all I was doing was logging my food. And every day I'd check in here and see how much exercise you had done, and my jaw would drop. After about three weeks of that, and seeing how much you were losing, I decided I needed to get off my a** and start exercising. So you can't stop now..'cause if you do, I'll totally fall off the wagon and gain 100 lbs. :rolleyes1 That being said, I know you don't want to have to do all this more than once. I know you have a lot going on right now..get through it, find your new routine, and start kicking butt again!

This is why I love this board. Getting blamed for stuff..jk. This put a giant smile on my face, and this is what has re-motivated me since Saturday. You're awesome for walking 20 miles, and I'm glad I motivated you. It just makes me want to go work out some more! (Yes, the exercise Monster will be unleashed shortly after I finish homework, yes, homework, on the first day of school.)

Nope, not gonna kick you.... yet. Patrick, you've done an amazing job and if you want to take a day off that's OK. Now if you tell me that your "day off" has turned into a month, then we'll have a chat.

There will never be a month off...thank you. I didn't want to take day off...but I just kinda did.

Starting up school this week (I'm a :teacher:), so I will not be here as much - school starting tends to consume my brain...

GOOD LUCK! Just out of curiosity, what do you teach?

So Patrick...once I got a fortune cookie that said "The worst form of failure is the failure to try." That really sticks with me. At least try each day - don't give up!

So....tomorrow begins the first school night for me. And Summer Reading: Still Not Done hmmmm sounds like my DD....

Fortune cookies always have the best advice! (I just love when there misspelled though!!!! hahaha) and yeah, Summer Reading's coming along, I've got another 2 weeks.

100 Calorie Orville Redenbacher Smart Pop pocorn gets me through the day, it's filling, and only 100 calories!

Yes, luckily, I eat outside, and bring my own lunch, however, on Chicken Strip day, I may just go ahead and eat there...best food ever from a school cafeteria. But yeah, healthy food isn't really around a lot..I just have to remember moderation. And yes, I got a lot of comments from my teachers and friends, and they were all good ones. And yes, I'm almost there...

btw: for anyone who's looking for an inspirational song (and wants to help donate $10K to charity), this song got me through the weekend. It's called "When the Waters Rise" by Casey Darnell

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDPAR2MavK4

(the more views the video has, the better chance it has for the $10K, shameless plug when it comes to charity)

Alright, I'll be back later after the homework, and the exercise monster have come alive....muahahaha. :) And I think I'm going to weigh-in tomorrow, because at 5:15am this morning, I don't remember much of anything. (On the plus side, just weighed-in, in my jeans and it looks like I may hit 187.something tomorrow (lowest weight ever).

- Patrick
