...and tell you about their trips, do you ever sit there thinking "but, but, but... you missed this and you skipped this and if I'd been with you I would have done it this way and I can't believe you didn't do this!"

Those things occur to me, but it's hard for those thoughts to find space in my brain around the "God, I hate you....you went to WDW...I'm sooooo jealous" thoughts.;) ;) ;)

There's definitely some truth to what d.kurz said! :p

My boss just returned from her first ever trip to WDW...she, her husband, her parents, and her two daughters went. All she did was complain...too hot, couldn't find any characters (she thought they should just walk around the parks ~ I explained that if they did that you would never be able to get near them with all the kids, but she still felt they should wander around), waited two and a half hours for Mears (I warned her....), food was too expensive, etc....

I feel bad for her kids. I know what fun they could have had if she had listened to some of the tips I offered...or even if she had just done some research herself.

At least my coworker took the time to do some research and asked about the best ways to handle things and which parks to do when and that kind of thing. LOL! She did sound like she and her kids had fun, they just missed half the things I would have emphasized -- but then again, she said in her case she'd ask the kids if they wanted to do this, that, or the other and the things they missed were typically missed because the kids weren't interested.

These are definately the kind of people that don't "get it." You just KNOW that they ruined the experience for their children as well. Kids usually react the way that their parents react to situations. The first time I took my kids to Disney, it rained most of the day, but I made a game out of it so that my kids could have the best experience possible. We took turns seeing who could get whom the wettest by splashing in puddles. We have pictures or the kids in their raincoats having a blast while others cowered under awnings and in breezeways.

My feeling is this - you're at the happiest place on Earth, you're spending all that money, the look on your kids face is priceless when you get to the gates, just focus on your kids and HAVE A GOOD TIME.

I completely agree, JP. But I did have a good laugh about it....she said they spent over an hour one morning looking for the bus to Disney. They stayed at ASMo and SHOULD have been waiting for the Magic Kingdom bus, but instead kept waiting for the bus to Disney. :p She didn't bother to ask anyone for help...just kept waiting! Needless to say, I laughed right out loud at her when she told me that! ;)

Oh, man...that just may be the most pathetic one I've heard yet.

DH's cousin had one day to spend at WDW several years ago. He lived in Iowa and his son lived in Georgia. He planned to pick him up, drive to Disney and would only have one day there. Everyone in that family knows that we are frequent WDW visitors and fanatics, but I didn't find out about this trip until after the fact.

They drove until they saw WDW signs. Followed some signs and enterred a parking lot. Walked to the ticket booth, bought one day passes and went in. Didn't take long to learn they were NOT at DISNEY WORLD, they were at MGM Studios. They did not even know there were different parks!!

They ended up leaving and finding Magic Kingdom (which was what they thought Disney World was) and paying AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

I was so frustrated to hear this! I didn't want to make them feel bad, but OMG! I could have helped them so much. I am also pretty sure that if they had gone back and told a CM about the error (they were not at MGM for 10 minutes) something could have been done without them having to pay twice!

People just do not realize the scope of WDW and that some level of planning is necessary.

OMG -- some of these are just SOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny! Even I don't think I was THAT clueless the first time we went! LOL

Pet peeve: when people call the Magic Kingdom .. Walt Disney World instead.

I love it when it rains because the crowds thin out and you can actually get from place to place quicker. As far as I know I am not made of sugar and will not melt if I get wet ;)

That happened the last time I was there. Got on the bus from MGM to go back to MK. One guy asks the driver if this bus was "going to Disneyworld". The driver calmy and politely told him he was already at Disneyworld and this bus was going to the MK. The guy sat down across from me and I explained to him that the whole resort is WDW and the park he wanted was the MK. Nice guy, didn't get mad or anything and was grateful for the help, just hadn't done any research.

I have a friend right now who is talking about loading up the wife and kids and heading to WDW. They have never been and from what I gather they have no plan. I've tried talking him into getting on the DIS and asking questions but he is hardheaded. I'm hoping I can at least teach him the basics before they go and (possibly) have a miserable time.

Maybe it's coincidence or maybe it's jealousy...maybe it's both....

On our trip in 2000, we left just 4 days after a co worker of mine left for WDW....

On our trip in 2002, my mom and I were on the same plane as one of my bosses and her family going to WDW.....

My upcoming trip in December takes place just 3 days after two other bosses of mine return from WDW. So, really, whenever a co-worker gets back from a trip to WDW, I'm usually just coming back as well or getting ready to go. :teeth:
