i'm wondering what the best option is for booking 2 rooms for me and my family.

should both rooms be made in my name? that way when we check-in, i just go up there and check-in to both rooms together?
we want the rooms to be as close together as possible, and i'll definitely be more familiar w/ general resort layout than the rest of my family... so i can verify that the room locations are good.

or should i book one room in my name, and another in my Dad's name for example? would we then need to check-in separately?

my parents have never stayed on Disney property before, and i was thinking maybe he should experience checking in, and have a CM say "Welcome Home", etc. :)

hmm... what to do...
any thoughts?

I would book both rooms in your name and add your father's name to the 2nd room. That way you can check all at once or they can check in without you if they need to.

Whenever we've taken friends/family the ressie has been in their name...with requests on both ressies for the rooms to be near each other, that way THEIR name will be on their room keys, and it avoids confusion - especially since we generally get an "emergency key" to the others room in case we accidently lock ourselves out. Even with both rooms in one name, they are "checked-in" with separate paperwork for each - so it saves no time either way. Of course, your folks could be checking in with one CM while you're with another. Usually we check-in as a "Mob" - the CM finishes one room, then moves on to the next. That way if your guests have any questions, they often feel more comfortable asking you - like "Should we do express check-out? Do you really use your key as a charge card - it is a good idea?"

First time guests often rely on the response of their "hosts" rather than the CMs, especially if they are not experienced travelers.

This is a good question. I am going to be making ressies in June for a big family trip in May 2004. We will need at least 4 2 bedrooms. I want each room to have their own charging privledges so, when I make the reservations, I would want to put thier names on their own rooms right? Will it be 4 seperate reservations with seperate confirmation numbers or can I book all 4 together?

We had 6 units in '99, 3 2BRs and 3 Studios. Each "family" had their own ressie, in their name. All were "linked" to be near each other. We ended up with 3 units in one bldg and 3 in the next bldg, we could see and "talk" to each other from the balconies.
I arrived 2 days before the rest, and went down the night before everyone arrived, and the wonderful CMs at OKW let me check in everyone. Got their ID's too. But that little piece of "Magic" is gone now.

Have a great trip.

One thing to remember is if your family needs park tickets (length of stay for example), they need proof that they are staying on Disney property. I ran into this in January. FYI.

In reality, each room will be separate ressie number, no matter what name it is under - and each room can have it's own charging privileges, and be checked-in as a separate ressie. But, the key cards will show whichever name the ressie is under - that's why I book each ressie under the name of the family that will be staying in that room. That way, when we exchange the "emergency" room keys (they are "dumb keys", no charging or park tickets), they will have different names...since the keys do NOT have the room numbers printed on them.

Chuck S.... Thanks, that is a good point. As it is, my husband hates when people bring him his card back to sign and jokingly say to him "Thank you Mrs. S" I don't want my entire family to have cards with my name on them.
