When and where do you deveolpe your WDW film??

It seems everytime I get to the world...I am always negligent in getting my photos developed...is there any where at WDW that doesn't charge and arm and a leg and want your firstborn to develope pictures...?? or does anyone have any better ideas...

I always develop my film at Disney. However, it's not cheap. I think I paid around $15 for a roll of 24 pictures (1 print each). To get it cheap, you'd have to venture out into a walmart or a drug store off property.

Main street photo shop will develop your photos as well as most of the resort gift shops. IIRC you can drop off at the resort gift shop and either pick up later in the day/week or have them mailed home. It is pricey so I usually just pop them in my carry on - take them out for xray and then hit bj's, wallmart or cosco at home.

Lately we have been using the digital so no problem I just bring the cards home and print or develop as needed.

One trip we got mailers from Snapfish and mailed them from WDW. For the first rolls we sent, the pictures were available online when we got him. I considered the risk of them getting lost in the mail less than the risk of us losing the film before we got it developed, lol

I have been to Dis many times before and have always carried my film in our carry on and then took it out for the xray. Last November we took our dd and ds for the first time and took rolls and rolls of pic. When we got back and had them developed 8 rolls of film didn't come out. The negatives were damaged during the processing. We went to Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace and NONE of our pics came out. We were so disappointed. We don't have a digital camera, so this time we will have them processed while we are there. That way if we know we didn't get a picture we really wanted, we can go back.

If you have a rental car, there is a Winn Dixie just outside DTD that has very reasonable photo-processing prices.

I take my film home to be developed.

I've tried everywhere in my area.

The photo lab does the best. Clear pictures with no discoloration.

This past trip I used 800 speed film and had BJ develope my 35mm film. My digital film went to the Photo shop.

BJ prints were awesome! At BJ I got double 5x7 for half the price of double 4x6 at the Photo Shop. Same amount of prints.

Both were excellent quality.

My cameras and all my film are carried on the plane in a special insulated camera bag. I can't remember the price (maybe $40) My film has never been damaged.

That was my huge fear, so I begged DH for a digital camera for this trip. After insisting we couldn't afford one, he finally agreed to let me put one in layaway....only if I made all the payments with my extra $ because saving for the trip was eating away at most of what was left in our joint checking....and 2 weeks later he went and got it out for my birthday. I was SHOCKED!

I'm so sorry about all your lost pictures, I haven't been there, but it has to be heartbreaking.

For weeks before my trip I buy processing included film at my favorite camera store or supermarket with IN-HOUSE photo lab.

I put 2 or 3 films away in my freezer each week before the trip. (I start 6 weeks ahead of the trip) If buying at the grocery store, it becomes part of grocery money for that week.

The place I use has Fuji for their film and I love it.

When I get home, I always need some food for the house so we go to the store right away and I bring my film in. Since it's processing included, I don't have to worry how much it's going to be to have it developed and I pick then up on my following grocery day...SIMPLE.

Having things paid in advance is the trick.

I had 3 rolls of 400 speed film go through the x-ray scanner in my carry on luggage, and all the photos came out fine.

Here's another vote for having processing before you leave.

We took ours to Walgreen's. It was $5.99 per roll for single prints for hour developing.

If off-property is not an option, then you really have two options. You can use Disney processing, or you can use a company that has the mailers. (someone said Snapfish... )

No matter what you do, do NOT pack your film in your checked luggage. The X Ray they use is too strong, and will destroy your film. Fortunately, the ticketing agent told us on a trip home from North Carolina. Unfortunately, we had to unpack our bags right there at the counter to find our film!

Before I had my digital camera, I was always worried about the xrays machines or losing the film before I would be able to get it developed. What I used to do was get mailer bags from ofoto.com and mail the film out to be developed as soon as it was done - the postage is prepaid on the envelopes and since I only ordered the prints that I really wanted (was able to view them online), it was a very economical way to get them done.

Oh.... and if you still use film and put it in a mailer, put an address label directly on each roll of film!! That way if it comes out of the envelope or gets separated from your order or something, they can still get it to you!!....................P

I use a digital and usually wind up with over 800 pictures. When I get home, I make it a point to go through them on my pc right away and transfer the best ones to a disk to have developed at 4X6 prints. I usually have it done at Ritz Camera. It's not that bad, about the same cost as developing regular film.

I don't think I'd ever develop film or have digital prints made on WDW property. The cost is just way too much. But if you have a car you could always try to find a place off site to do it for a normal cost.

ITA with the poster who suggested going digital. We finally took the plunge last year and it's some of the best money we ever spent! No more wondering if the picture turned out, you see it right away and can adjust and take it again. No more wasting money on developing pictures that didn't turn out. You can edit right on the computer and then only develop those you want. No more money spent on buying film. I develop our prints at Sam's Club for only 9 cents a print. Just take the memory card, insert into the machine and tell it how many copies of each. Easy and cheap!

For those of you still using film cameras, please pony up and do yourselves a huge favor by purchasing a digital camera. I guarantee you that it is worth it. The picture quality can be just as good, if not better, than film. There is no developing necessary and you can instantly see your pics instead of waiting for development and hoping your pic turned out.
