June 7,9,14,16,21 etc.: Join a museum docent from the Coastal Discovery Museum for the Dolphin and Nature Cruise on Wednesdays and Fridays at 3 p.m. (March-October 2017) along the waters and salt marshes of Broad Creek. The Lowcountry's Salt Marsh is home to many interesting creatures such as river outers, eastern oysters, blue crabs and a great species of birds. Among the most charismatic creatures found in the Salt Marsh are the Bottlenose Dolphins. Museum guides will share their knowledge about this and many other of the fascinating creatures found in the salt water channels of Broad Creek. The Coastal Discovery Museum's Dolphin and Nature Cruise is $19 for adults and $13 children (ages 1-12). The cruise departs from Broad Creek Marina on Marshland Road. June 10,17,24: Join a naturalist guide for Coastal Discovery Museum's Kayaking Jarvis Creek, Tuesdays-Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon. Paddle through the salt marsh looking for bottle-nosed dolphins, wading birds and other local wildlife. Jarvis Creek is a small creek in the north end of Hilton Head Island not typically visited by recreational boaters. The absence of fast moving boats, the calm waters, and the many inlets and side creeks make it the ideal location to see wildlife. Given the physical requirements of this tour, we do not allow children younger than 5 years of age to participate. Children ages 5 to 12 have to be in a double kayak with an adult. Kayaking Jarvis Creek is $32 for adults and $28 for children (ages 5-12; no children under 5). Provided by Jarvis Creek Water Sports. Every Friday night during the summer, enjoy one of the finest qualities of our Lowcountry with the Sunset Celebration at Shelter Cove Community Park from 7-10 p.m. Bring a beach chair or blanket and pick up a picnic from one of the Shelter Cove Towne Centre merchants for an evening of live music, juggling, face painting and bounce houses overlooking the water.

Every Tuesday throughout the summer, the Island Rec. Center proudly presents Summer Jams in Shelter Cove Community Park from 7-9 p.m. This fun-filled, festive event not only features live entertainment, but fireworks which start around 9:15 p.m. Kids of all ages can enjoy inflatable bounce houses and face painting for a minimal fee. Wednesdays: Get out with a docent from the Coastal Discovery Museum on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. to see the Forts of Port Royal - the sites where it all happened, from early explorers through the Civil War and beyond, explore Mitchelville, Fort Walke, and the Steam Cannon. Please, no children under 7 years of age. Forts of Port Royal meets at the Port Royal Golf Clubhouse and is $12 for adults, $7 for children (ages 7-12 only) and reservations are required by calling (843) 384-0959 or going online to coastaldiscovery.org.

June 21- 25 and June 28-July2: The Main Street Youth Theatre presents The Wizard of Oz June 21-25 and June 28-July 2, 2017. Yes, they are fired from a barge anchored in the marsh right behind the resort. The buildings along the marsh have a primo view.

The fireworks last about 15 minutes each Tuesday and the show on July 4th is even longer and the resort will have special programs available throughout the day including a cookout dinner.
 
Thanks! We are at WDW for July 4th, but will be at HH the following week. So looking forward to visiting there again.
 

The fireworks normally begin a little after 9pm as there may still be a little twilight earlier but, unless there is lightning in the area, they will go off shortly after 9pm.
