December 2: This year the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce will kick off the holiday season on Dec. 2, 2016 at the Hilton Head Marriott Resort & Spa with their annual Taste of the Season from 6-9 p.m. At the annual culinary event, more than 35 restaurants will dish out their tastiest signature plates for attendees to enjoy along with great drinks and a silent auction.
Attendees can cast their ballot for their favorite dishes and browse great gifts offered in the silent auction. Premium auction items include a five-night golf tour on Club Choice Ireland's West of Ireland Golf Tour; a round of golf for four at Long Cove Club and more. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry's Disaster Recovery and Rebuilding fund. The VIP Experience in the J. Banks Design Lounge includes two drink tickets, private bar, select seating and lounge, early access and private hors d'oeuvres, plus general admission.
Saturdays: Head over to Caretta Coffee Co. in Coligny Plaza for Art on the Corner from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Saturday to discover artwork by local artists. December 7-31, 2016, the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina will present Irving Berln's "White Christmas" at 8 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, with showings at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. select Sundays. Based on the beloved, timeless film, this heartwarming musical adaptation features 17 Irving Berlin songs and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters in route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil's former army commander. The dazzling score features well known standards including Blue Skies, I Love A Piano, How Deep Is the Ocean and the perennial favorite, White Christmas. "White Christmas" is an uplifting musical worthy of year-round productions.

December 14: Head over to the Coastal Discovery Museum, located at 70 Honey Horn Dr., on Dec. 14, 2016 at 3 p.m. for the Guide to Tonight's Sky program. The stars have fascinated people for centuries. Come and learn how to get started with star gazing. It only requires good eyesight and a dark sky, something that can be found in the Lowcountry. After a brief description of the types of stars, we'll turn our attention to locating constellations in the winter sky using a virtual planetarium computer program. With Orion as our guide, you should be able to identify the 6 constellations of the Winter Hexagon in the night sky as well as gain insight on how to star gaze on your own. Marie McClune, docent at the Museum and "Sky Ranger," will lead the program. Cost is $7 per person (aged 12 and older) and reservations are required. December 24: The 25th Annual Hilton Head Hospital Jingle Jungle 5K Run and Health Walk will be held on Christmas Eve - Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016 at 9 a.m. The Family 5K Run & Health Walk will follow a course on and around the Hilton Head Hospital Campus and Main Street. The race features a colorful seasonal theme and provides participants a chance to burn off some extra holiday calories. The first 500 participants to sign up will receive a long sleeve event T-shirt, jingle bells and a candy cane. An award ceremony, featuring a visit from Santa, refreshments, hot cider, music and door prizes will be held following the race. Holiday prizes will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, plus the top three in each age category will also receive unique holiday awards.
A FREE Children's Fun Run will be held following the 5K. The Children's Fun Run is for kids 6 & under. The race is broken into two heats: 3 and under (25-yard run) and 4- to 6-year-olds (100-yard run).
