Wheelchairs ... Do they run out?

Hi All:

Thinking of renting a wheelchair for our December trip to help my mom wait on line for the Candlelight Processional.

What's the chance I can rent one at the IG at 5pm? Could I rent one on our way into the park (IG) and leave it there until the afternoon?

We considered waiting in line while my mom waits on a bench until the line starts moving but that would technically be cutting (which we would do if there is no other option, but would prefer not to).

She's fine walking, it's the standing for long periods that she can't do anymore.

depends on the day Christmas, new years even slim to none chance. other days you have a good chance

I think you can rent early in the morning and then park the wheel chair somewhere but there is a chance someone might see it and take it if it has been there a long time. But I do not think they will run out the first Saturday in December.

You could consider buying a Rollator - they are relatively inexpensive, and act like a walker, with a built-in seat. As a bonus, they typically have a storage basket under the seat.

Depending on how many days you will be in the park, and renting a wheelchair, you could potentially pay for the entire cost of the rollator instead.

I looked at a rollator after reading some threads on this board, we'll only need it for a couple of hours as it's just standing in the CP waiting line. Is it possible to rent one from a third-party?

Yes! You should be able to rent one - just make sure that you don't pay more in rental fees than it would cost to purchase one from Wal-Mart. Typically, most rental companies have a minimum number of days for a rental; you may have to rent for at least one 24 hour period.

You can also ask family, friends, neighbors - even your Church, or local service groups like the Masons, the Elks Lodge, etc. to see if someone has a Rollator that you could borrow for the trip.
