We are 4 people including my adorable 5 year old son, who is wheelchair-bound. He is turning 6 at AKL in mid Oct! The last time we were at WDW, we took Mears, and had an efficient and relatively easy time getting from airport to the Swan and back, since we had a dedicated wheelchair van just for us. My one complaint would be tha absurd amount of time they estimate for airport arrival: Mears wanted to pick us up 4 hours before flight time! :jester: (we negotiated and spent a mere 90 mins at MCO)

I have heard that for groups of 3 or more, that it is often cost effective to hire a car service or limo. I have heard that some even allow you a quick stop at the grocery store on the way, a godsend for those who need certain special foods.

Can anyone recommend one over the other or compare and contrast wheelchair van experience on the two?

Thx very much

Here is a link http://www.wdwig.com/airport.htm to Debbie's Walt Disney World Information Board that talks about transportation options from the airport. A lot of people from the "rec.arts.disney.parks" usenet newsgroup recommend Tiffany very highly.

I have seen wheelchair vans available on the Happy Limo site. How about others, like Tiffany or FL Tours? As I mention above, Mears was fine, and we had a wheelchair van to ourselves; plus as I recall, my wheelchair bound son rode for free (I could be mis-remembering, but I'll check my credit card statement).

I would be interested in others' experiences. Thx

We have a 12 year old that uses a power wheelchiar. For the past two years we have used this gentlemen to pick us up and drop us off at the Yacht & Beach Club - there are four of us and we fit (with luggage). You may want to try him and if his van is not big enough he may be able to suggest someone. Mears was horrible as far as I'm concered. Unreliable!! He charges around $50.00 one way.

We have not used any of the transportation companies (we've rented a van and drove ourselves). The problem that I have seen written about when using one of the limo companies is that once you've got a folded up wheelchair in the trunk, there may not be room for all your luggage.
I've been told that Yellow Cab has a wheelchair van also.
