We are thinking we will need to rent a wheelchair for the few days we are at WDW prior to our Disnye cruise and then want to take the wheelchair on the cruise and then back to WDW for a day following the cruise. Any suggestions for rental companies that can do this and also can the wheelchair be transported on the Disney cruise line buses?

Since you are starting and ending a at WDW resort, I would think any of the rental companies could accommodate you. We rent from Walker, but I know there are other companies that folks on this board have been happy with too. I'd just ask if they have any restrictions about you taking the chair with you on the cruise. Yes, you can transport the chair with you on the Disney buses (I assume you are talking about Disney transport from the resort to the port.)

I wonder if the same would apply to scooters? DH prefers a scooter to a WC and I just want to go on a cruise! :) And if he could take the scooter on a cruise - that would be awesome!

Sorry - didn't mean to hijack the thread.

I am taking my personal Pride Victory 9 on my cruise in September. You need to book soon, though to get a HC room. The ECV or WC doesn't fit through the doors of the regular rooms!

We have been on 3 disney cruises -- with husband's power wheelchair
the ship was great but the ports have limited access

Even so we are READY to cruise again!!!! The ships might start sailing from south florida soon -- I am hoping for Fort Lauderdale since we just relocated here rather than Miami -- official announcement is expected soon!
