Wondering how far it is from the Magical Express drop off point at Orlando, till you get an area to get wheelchair assistance? I guess it would be from the curb to the ticket counter inside? If so, how far it that? Or can the airline have someone waiting at curbside?
Thanks

Unless they have changed, it is a long ways from ME drop off to the checkin and gate areas (they drop off the same place they pick you up.) It is a struggle for my son to make the distance. We end up resting a few times on the way.

Sorry - I can't help with what is available in that area (I've never really paid attention), but I imagine either Disney or the airline could help you ensure there is a wheelchair available for you.

Thank you for the information. Sounds like I need to make arrangements.

When I got off the Megical Express bus there were red caps (some people call them sky caps) waiting by the bus hoping to assist with luggage in exchange for tips. One of the red caps took one look at me with my rollator and asked if I wanted a wheelchair. He went and got me one mmediately. He took me to the check in, then thru security and all the way to the gate. I did not have to find him, he was looking for people to help so he could earn his living. It was a win win situation.

Skycaps are lined up and waiting 9 be sure to have some cash on hand to tip if they do a good job). Your ME driver will even hail one for you if you tell him/her when you get on that you will need help at the airport ( they want tips as well).

Great. Thanks again. Does $10.00 seem fair for the tip if they go from the bus to the gate with me?

I give the ME bus driver $2-5 depending on how much luggage and the sky cap between $5-10 depending on how good the service was. If your need for a wheelchair is not easily apparent, just mention it and the sky cap will go and get one.

Tipping is a touchy subject for may people. but I personally think 10 would be a good tip, but only if they go a good job.

Sorry to ask so many questions, but if I am using airline check in at the resort, I will not see the bags again till I land, correct? The ME bus driver will not actually handle my bags and the skycab will only have to deal with me?

Your are correct. If you are using the luggage service at your resort you will not see your bags again till you get to your home airport. You will only need one skycap to help you out ( if you had a cart full of bags you would need more help). Be sure to let your airline know that you wil need help and when you land they will get someone to help you from the gate to baggage claim. If you need a skycap to get your luggage from the belt and take it to a car you should plan on bringing extra cash for them as well.

Don;t worry about asking to many questions around here. That's what this place is for. ;)

I can't say enough good things about the skycaps at MCO!

My sister and I went in June; we were planning on her using a wheelchair because of an old spinal injury, but what we weren't expecting is for me to break my foot on our first night. So, on our way back, we were both in wheelchairs at the airport. Not only was there a skycap waiting at the ME drop-off point, but when he couldn't find another free skycap to help him, he pushed BOTH our wheelchairs at once, with all our luggage on our laps to boot. We tipped him $25, and he earned every penny. He also helped us get us and our carryons through security.
