can we leave the wheelchair at the entrance and a CM will bring it to the exit like the park rides? my husband can walk small distances, but not around the whole water parks. he'll want to ride the chairlift to teamboat springs at blizzard beach. he'll want to do the lazy river. do we leave the chair at the entrance? b een using a wheelcagr at disney a few years now, but a water park with it is a first for us. also.. I can't imagine pushing it through the sand. do people leave their wheelchairs/ecvs on the edge of the nearest sidewalk? I can't believe I've never noticed this this. thanks

Both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon have wheelchairs made out of PVC available for rent. One part of Disney's website says they are free to rent at Guest Services at the water parks (with a valid ID) and another spot on the site says they are $12/day with a $100 refundable deposit. I'm not sure which is accurate.

Blizzard Beach does have a wheelchair accessible gondola on the ski lift so your DH can take a wheelchair up that should he choose. Teamboat Springs can strap the wheelchair into a tube (by itself-- you guys would be in a different tube) and send it down the ride so it's waiting at the bottom for hi.. I don't think any of the other slides have this capability, so you would need someone in your party to bring the wheelchair to the bottom for him.

For the lazy river, there's usually room off to the side of each entrance where you can leave a wheelchair. At least some (if not all) of the lazy river entrances are accessible as well where the wheelchair can be taken close to the water if needed to transfer into a tube. I'm not sure how you would differentiate his wheelchair from someone else's if you are leaving it for a bit, but I haven't seen too many wheelchairs at the water parks so it may not be an issue. Just remember which entrance you parked it by so you know where to get off.

Also, not sure if you are going to Typhoon Lagoon, but Crush n Gusher does have an elevator available for those with mobility needs.

I am glad to hear some things have changed. We have not had good luck at the water parks and stopped visiting them about 10 years ago. They had no DAS capability, and little training as to how to help us. And we had troubles with the lift at BB, HC line, (a CM said my son did not "look handicapped" which is a hoot because he has autism and down syndrome, and orthopedic challenges). that was resolved with the CM being re-assigned for training. Another trip we just went to use the regular line for the lift and CM said he HAS to ride the gondola. ok fine, we waited for that. At the top they brought over a WC, and we had him in that for the long line for the family raft line. Then when we went to board the raft, the CMs were confused as to what to do with the WC. At the bottom, we were on our own, as his personal chair was no where near the exit. (fortunately we had enough family to send a runner for the chair and another to stay with my son. When he was little my husband carried him up the hills to ride the slides that he loved, but once he got too big it was just too hard for us. And I do understand why it is so hard to accommodate him there.

I'm a little confused. we always rent a manual chair from Walker Mobility for the entire trip. so when we "rent" the PVC chair, do they keep ourWalker Mobility chair somewhere safe?
