Wheelchair accessible house or condo

I just found the Disboard a couple of days ago and I LOVE it.You all seem like very friendly people and I am sure I could not have found as much information on WDW anywhere else.My problem now is finding a reasonably priced Wheelchair accessible house to rent off site.We are looking for a house with a pool ,at least 4 bedrooms/5 beds ...preferrably with 2 master bedrooms ,but thats optional.We would like the area to be decent and within 15 -20 min. of WDW.

If you do not get a response here, try the disABILITIES board, they are a great source of information.

We have never rented a home, but I have inquired. Try some of the major websites. The folks who keep these know the floor plans and if there are two masters and how many steps/ramps. Some sites are kept by the owners and you can email them directly. Takes some hunting, good luck.

Hi Kimmie, I also strongly recommend the disabiltity board.

I work in rehab at the U of Iowa, so maybe can help a little with some real specifics.

Do you require a bath that allows chair transfers and a shower or bath that allows sitting and requires tranfers. Some homes will advertise "accessible" but not really handle a wheelchair and transfers easily.
There is often a step or two to get into most most homes.

If you do not find what you need at the disability board let us know and can help with a home search. No doubt you can find a great place, but asking all the little questions will be important.

I found a villa with wheelchair access on vrbo website it even has a pool hoist, it was so nice I considered renting it even though we dont need weelchair access. I dont have a contact but if you look on that site you will find it. It is listed on other sites too. UK owners.
