I asked this on one of the DVC forums, but didn't get an answer.

I have invited a friend to come with me to WDW next year. He is obese and has difficulty walking due to problems with his hips. He uses his own scooter to get around and he uses a rollator in the house. I am looking to book a handicapped 2BR so he can get in and out of the shower easier. He and his wife would be in the studio side of the unit. Are both bathrooms wheelchair accessible? I don't think he needs a roll in shower, the transfer shower will be enough.

Generally in accessible rooms with more than one bathroom, only one bathroom is fully accessible. I would recommend getting one with a roll in shower, as some the showers can be quite small otherwise, this will also ensure some form of seat in the shower, which can be helpful for those that are larger as well and with the hips, it will make it much easier, as some of the tubs can be high to get in and out of too.

Thanks for that. I just chatted with someone at DVC (which is what I should have done in the first place) and they said that both bathrooms have roll in showers. If it turns out that only the master bedroom has one we can finagle things so my friend can shower in our bathroom.

Your friend may want to bring their own shower seat; most of the fold-down installed shower seats at WDW now are a mesh sling style seat that has two metal bars to support the mesh. As a larger person, I find that the metal bars are very uncomfortable as they "pinch" me and the mesh sling is harder for me to stand up from, and I don't want to struggle with standing while in a wet, slippery environment.

The Resort may have a folding bath bench or shower bench, but it might not be a suitable size. Additionally, some of our friends here have reported in the past that the bench(es) that were delivered for their use by Housekeeping have been... rickety.

This is one option they could consider: Heavy Duty Shower Seat It could be delivered or drop shipped to the hotel by Amazon, or there are other options, such as local rental delivery, or bringing one from home in a suitcase (if y'all are flying, a suitcase that contains *only* medical equipment or supplies flies for free on domestic airlines - just make sure that every.single.thing. in that suitcase is easily identifiable as medical equipment or supplies)
