I just got off the phone after an hour on hold - and we got in at Bellows Air Force base this summer! Since airfare costs so much we want to see everything there is to see. We had 9 days at the Hale Koa, but now 4 of those will be at Bellows, saving us some dollars. I've been counting the days until I could reserve at 75 days out.

We're also spending one week on Hawaii with my DB and SIL. My budget is happy, happy, happy! :cool1: :cool1:

We are going on a cruise of 4 of the Hawaiiian Islands in July so I share your enthusiasm My budget doesn't though. Congratulations to you!!!

:thumbsup2 Have a great time! I just love vacationing in Hawaii!

Have a wonderful time! We honeymooned there in 2004 and went back in 2005. I have a business trip coming up to Seattle in 2007, DH wants to fly from there to the big island, so I am in the research mode for that! :surfweb:

We're going in October. My mom is staying at Hale Koa. Hubby just told me today that he wants to do a 2-daytrip to Maui.

He's making it impossible for me to come back and report about my "budget" Hawaiian trip.

Enjoy your trip!

Yea - budget in quotations is right! Mine is about as budget as you can get (can't beat a free week at my brother's house -we're using his vacation rental for free) but unless you're going to Honolulu on a deal, there's not much "budget" in Hawaii. You can't swim there!

You said you are spending 1 week in Hawaii.......have you looked into the military reservation there, it is right next to Volcanos national park, and they used to have some very reasonable tours from there to all parks of the island, I am not sure if you had to be staying at the reservation or not to take advantage of them. You will have a wonderful time, I have stayed at the Hale Koa with my parents many years ago, it is right next to the Hilton Hawaiian Village and within walking distance of the International Market Place and also Ala Moana shopping center.........the park next to the Hale Koa (Ft.DeRussy) used to be very nice also. You may also want to check if they still have the free Kodak Hula show down at the park near Diamond Head and the zoo. Also the trek up Diamond Head is not a hard one and well worth the views, just start out early in the day.
