As soon as you see a fare at a price that you can live with. Honestly, there is no way to predict when airfares will go up or come down. There are a few websites like bing.com/travel and farecast on msnbc.com. You can put your airports and dates in and they will tell you whether the price is likely to rise or fall. They arent guaranteed to be accurate but they will give you a feel for what to expect.
