What's your personal opinion for WOC-blue or yellow FP?

We will be a party of 9 going to WOC on Sunday, July 20th. There are 7 adults (one or two are rather short) and two kids- a 10 year old and a 6 year old. I've looked at the WOC color chart and read through the WOC thread. The only other time we went to WOC, we had the picnic meals and I don't remember what section we were in. What colored area do you think would be a good choice for us? I was thinking of the fire hydrant area, but would that be good for shorter people?

We have done both blue and yellow. When we did the blue section it was when WOC was newer. We went and lined up really early and got a railing spot, but it felt crowded, and we felt "pushed in" on by other people wanting to get up to the railing, too. We also watched once from the bridge, and while the waiting was more pleasant...less crowding...the view is at more of an angle, and was only fair, not great. The last few times we've gone to the second yellow show. It was much easier to get a great spot. We were at the railing right above the lowest wet zone, as far to the left as possible, next to the green reserved seating. This is the spot we always go for now, and really like the amazing view from here. You get a little misted sometimes, but we've never been soaked.

We have never tried the fire hydrant spot, so can't help you there.

Edit to add...I'm sure being down to one show is going to make getting a railing spot quite a bit tougher :(

Yeah, that kinda stinks. It's going to end up a lot more crowded, just like when WOC first opened. Maybe if it's not working out they"ll add the second show back in. We can hope, right?

Do we all have to be there for the waiting process? When do they let you find your spot?

No, but with 9 people you'll want about 4 or 5 people to stay behind, since 1 person can't save enough space for all 9. If you have a stroller, it helps take up space. Last summer DH save a spot for all 4 of us by putting the double stroller up against the railing (in the blue section) and he stood next to it. Then, when the kids and I returned, they were able to sit in the stroller and I stood behind the stroller.

We just went Saturday night with a group of 8 - 4 adults and 4 children. I am only 5 foot tall. We did the fire hydrant spot and it was PERFECT for us! My 6 and 8 year old (who are quite short for their age) stood and could see the whole time. I could easily see. We got there just as they were opening up the blue area so about 1 hour early. We could have showed up later to get that spot but it just happened to be when we arrived in the general area. I had taken a sheet and laid it out to hold our spot. I could have easily taken the kids on a couple of rides and easily gotten back to the spot but they were content sitting down and eating popcorn and then playing a memory game on our phones that they do with Mickey's Fun Wheel. It was also really easy to slip out as soon as it was over. I would do it again! There is a rope blocking off the area immediately to the right of the fire hydrant and when I asked who sits there, it was a VIP area so I figured it was worth a shot! Two of the adults in our party went over to the area and found the fire hydrant earlier in the day. I think it would be harder to find it in the midst of the chaos so I recommend that which is suggested in the WOC superthread. It is the only time we have been to WOC so I can't compare it to any other spot.
