I am literally going out of my mind trying to find the right hotel. This is a much needed trip for all of us and I want to make everyone happy.

We want to stay in International drive. We will not be driving and are traveling with teenagers.

Which is the best hotel/resort on International drive that have good pools, many restaurants around? We want to be able to walk to restaurants and be near or right at the I-trolley stops.

I know you all are saying there are so many! And there is and we are having a hard time choosing. When I think we have found the right one I read a bad review and then I'm searching again.

Please help!

Thanks!

Rodeway Inn sounds real nice and I have a ressie with them for 2 rooms for 4 nights. But than I came across the Hawthorn Inn that is $150.00 more for the 4 nights but includes a free hot breakfast, evening cocktails, soda and snacks and a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen/living area. I don't cook on vacation but it's there if we need it. I also have a ressie with a US property but the Hawthorn is half the price.

I don't read any reviews that are over 6 months old. I feel they could be outdated. Please share anything you learn about a nice hotel with a good price.

I think it depends on which end of I-drive you want to be on. It is a pretty long road with basically Universal on one end and SeaWorld on the other. The Peabody is a great hotel, and the Marriott near SeaWorld is very nice too.

The Peabody is by far the best hotel on I-Drive. It's a gorgeous four star, four diamond property with an elegant lobby, a variety of dining options, and well appointed rooms.

The Hawthorne is a MUCH nicer hotel than the Rodeway. Generally speaking Rodeway Inn's are a low-end budget accomodation, while Hawthorne Suites are a moderate level accomodation.

you are so correct.

this is a long, long road - what are you going to be doing? If WDW then I would recommend LBV over ID any time.

SW - then Renassiance Hotel or Hilton Grand Vacation club. both have restuarants. you can walk (1 block - but florida blocks - 1/4 mile) - there is a Denny's, Wendy's, Burger King and a grocery store - Publix (much further say a mile)

US/IOA - I would be tempted to stay onsite with their FOLE all day.

WDW as stated go with LBV - Cypress Pointe (hotelkingdom), Sheraton Safari, County Inn - and a couple I don't remember are all together. plus just about every restuarant chain you can name.

the real first class hotels aren't on ID - close but not on it - Ritz's Carlton and JW Marriott

in LBV there is Hyatt Grand Cypress - for teens I might go with Hyatt just because of their activities list.

We stayed at the Hawthorne a month ago, it it right at the bottom of I Drive, actually on Westwood Boulevard, but on trolley route.

I would not recommend this Hawthorn, if this is the one you mean. The one in LBV is awesome. They advertise cocktail hours etc on their web site but there are none. There is nothing going on here but the free breakfast, which is only ok. Some of the staff were surly. The hotel seriously needs an update. Hallways dark and dirty. Rooms okay but again are nothing special. We would not stay here again, although the area is great, easy to get to I Drive by the trolley but a nice quiet area. A few nice resturants nearby.

Check out any hotels you may be thinking of on www.tripadvisor.com. It is really helpful

Much prefer the south end of I drive, really liked the Rosen Center hotel and that would be my choice if I wanted to stay in this area.

Crowne Plaza right off I-Drive and Sand Lk Road. It's right in the thick of everything, and it is moderately priced. The Peabody is ok.

The Peabody was exceptional. We really enjoyed our stay here.

I've heard the Caribe Royale is really nice, newly refurbished, near Disney A Mousesavers choice and the rates for a two bedroom with a kitchen was really reasonable, but the price change for the time you are going. also has an awsome pool with a slide, restaurant and lounge too. Give them a try, they are right outside of DW and I think they are on ID.

We are staying the Marriott Grande Vista in a 3 bdrm w/kitchen and washer dryer for 355$ a night, there are 8 of us. this place has mostly really good reviews. I believe its on ID as well and just about right next to Sea World with a couple of restaurants and a newly done pool and hot tubs.

Good luck!

We stayed at the Sheraton Studio City in August and really liked it. I would definitely stay there again!

Based on the OP's original criteria I'd suggest either the Peabody or the Rosen Centre as the two nicest hotels on International Drive.

Someone else mentioned the Crowne Plaza that's just off I-Drive and that is a nice hotel, good pool, fitness room, has a restaurant and there's lot's of other eating establishments within walking distance.

Agree about the Crowne Plaza on Universal Boulevard. We have stayed there 3 times and have a 1 night stop next month. Very clean hotel with great staff and comfortable rooms.

Priority Club members get a room upgrade and access to the top floor for free breakfast and hot nibbles at night.

I'm looking at the one on Canada Avenue. Can you please explain what you mean by the staff were surly?

The one on Canada Avenue was good clean last year and the staff was nice. Had a good breakfast.

They seemed to consider it a bother answering questions, or doing anything for you. Some of them never seemed to smile. There was a few really nice staff, one guy found us some milk at 1 in the morning, and housekeeping were really friendly.

I hear the Hawthorn on Canada is great. I am a Hawthorn fan after staying in the Palm Parkway one. But this one just doesnt measure up.

thank you for the explanation. OK so you did not stay at the one I'm booked at. I'm really leaning towards this one. I have ressies with the RPH but that will cost us $750.00 more than the Hawthorn.
