Thinking of taking our 3 year old DGS there in October. He loves Dinosaurs. So please give me the good, the bad and the ugly.

We've only been once, but we enjoyed it so much we plan to make it a tradition. The atmosphere was really neat and the food was great (I recommend the Paleo Shrimp, they were delicious!).

We liked it.
The food is HUGE! Share something because it's Dinosaur sized food!
Try to go mid afternoon at an off time. We can usually walk right in then.
It is loud in there and the ice storms come through and more noise happens, but if he's cool with all that and finds it fun you are good. I've heard of people saying that babies get scared, etc., but I never noticed that happening when I was there.

Try to run out of there fast though or you will get caught in the gift shop or the build-a-dino store and lunch will become the cost of a mortgage payment!..lol
The build-a-dinos are super cute though...pretty tough to resist.

We thought the food was better than RFC, I mean I know the same company owns them but really the food was much better! Its a bit loud but alot of fun! The chicken fried steak is amazing (not usually a fan of fried meat) and so is the cottontini! We are going Sept 10th for dinner and I cant wait~

We love t-rex - good food and great atmosphere but I will say that my 5 year old was terrified when the "meteor shower" began. He rides roller coasters, loves fireworks but is terrified of storms (lightening/thunder) so just FYI in case your 3 year old is the same. But other than that they loved all the dinosaurs! plenty to keep them entertained.

We loved it! Our son was 13 mos. at last visit and LOVED the fish aquariums, the giant trex, and the meteor shower. He wasnt afraid of anything, but then again, he loves stuff like that. The food was great as well. We have booked again fro upcoming trip even though we have free dining and will have to pay OOP.

We liked it though we'd visit more often if the prices were a little lower. Also, we wish they'd offer more for vegetarians.

I had the Paleo Shrimp which came out cold. I had to send it back and - wow - was it ever wonderful when the fresh dish came out!

:)

I agree, it is very loud and may scare a 3 year old. When we were there it scared many little ones based on the amount of screaming we heard. My DD covered her ears even and she is used to the noise level at RFC. On the flip side it is pretty neat atmosphere and the food is similar to RFC in portion size and quality.

The portions are enormous, but it is kinda pricey for what it is. With that being said my DD-7 is begging to go back in Jan. I had to make her sit down to eat when the food came last year. We spent most of our time wondering around "looking".

It's neat, although DH and I have never sat down in the restaurant. We usually get a drink at the bar and split a couple of appetizers.

loud, loud, loud! Don't expect to be able to hear your dining companions. It would be fun for kids, but don't expect miracles from the food. It is essentially over-priced TGI fridays. We also found the service to be very slow, at one point we though our server had gone extinct, it was taking him so long to bring our drink orders.

We have ate their twice and both times have really enjoyed it. I am not a big portion eater because of stomach issues, so I would say the huge portions depend on what you order. I had the mushroom ravioli and it was delicious and not too large of a portion. Had a few bites left, but not enough to even take home. Hubby, who loves his large portions, felt his steak was great, but tiny. One of the teens with us ordered nachos that were INSANELY large lol. So, just ask the waiter if something is large enough to split or not. Overall, I would recommend T-Rex. It is a fun experience and the food that we have tried has all been very good.

We really enjoyed our visit here. It is loud, but we didn't think it was so loud that you couldn't do anything else. Sort of like Rainforest in that it's louder at certain times. The atmosphere definitely is worth a trip.

I don't remember our food, except that it was the one place that my Mom actually took a picture of her entree. It was really beautifully presented. If I don't remember it, it's a good thing! We were there right after they opened in October of 2008. We walked up and put our names in and were able to get a seat after about a 30 minute wait.

My son had a great time playing in the fossil digging area. He was 4 at the time and he wasn't afraid, at all, of the noise inside, and he is normally very sensitve to loud noises.

We are going back in Feb. of 2011 because my husband will be with us this trip, and I know that he will enjoy the place, especially the fish. My son will also enjoy showing him the dinosaurs. The ice age room is really beautiful!

Fun! You will definitely enjoy it. I agree that it's somewhat over-sized, over-priced TGI Friday's food, but for us, the ambience was absolutely worth the price!

We ate there, at the request of my 26 year old "child" (read: DH), on our last trip. We definitely liked it better than RFC. We were seated next to two AA triceratops, which are my favorite, but it turned into a downside when people kept coming up to our table for photos. I actually had one woman ask me to move while I was eating so she could take a picture of her son...WTH? Since we don't have kids, we probably would not make a return visit; there's too many other places to try!

We took our 2 year old there and he really liked it. He was afraid of some of the dinosaurs because they made loud noises that scared him a bit.

Have fun!

I thought the Rainforest Cafe was loud until we went into T Rex! Talk about ear splitting decibel levels. We might have enjoyed it if it wasn't so loud! Atmosphere was pretty neat. Food was just so-so. Same nuked stuff you get at a dozen chain restaurants. Edible but nothing to write home about.

Kids like it! We are planning to take my grandson if he is still big on dinos when we take him on his first trip to Disney in a year or two. But go for the atmosphere, not the food and you won't be disappointed. Take two Tylenol before you go and bring a set of earplugs!

In a few weeks we are going back there for the 3rd time. Our 5 yr old loves it there. I love dinosaurs myself, but, eh. It's just an alright place. Definitely go if you have never been before though. I'm not sure I would go back there if it weren't for my 5 yr old. The food is average stuff that you would find in any american chain restaurant. But the theming really is neat.

we Floridians know to let the crowds die down when something is new, they are always packed!!! So, finally this last visit, we finally got to eat there! The food is good, not as good as rfc, thats just personal opinion!! BUt, the meteor shower, and ice room are sooo cool! The dinos really react to the shower, they all kinda freak out..lol!
me and hubby has 2 drinks , a cottontini(which are to die for) and appetizer, it was 50 bucks:scared1:! But, if your on vacation, its a once a yr thing ya know..lol!!:thumbsup2

This is dd request meal this year. We are on the QSDP this year. But I let everyone pick one TS meal and that was both of my girls choice. We are going on arrival day and then off to build a dino afterwards. Dh and I pefer RFC.
