Hi
We have reservations at All Star Music for our Oct trip. Being the compulsive planner I am, I am thinking about switching to Caribbean beach.
One reason is that I plan I spending time at the resort. We will be there 8 nights and I know the day of and the day after MNNSHP i wanted to take it easy with the children.
We stayed at POFQ last dec and they loved the pool (esp the slide). I know CBR has a nice pool. Also it has a beach which I they will enjoy.
I won't have a car and I have a perferred room at ASMu.
so, is it worth the x-tra money. Will we love it?
which buildings are next to the pool and bus stoP/
I appreciate and comments and suggestions.
Valerie

My husband and I strongly disliked Carribbean beach and will not go back to that resort. The pool was nice and we liked the food court (buffalo chicken sandwiches for a spicy food junkie!!! :goodvibes ); however, it was too large and spread out for us. I wouldn't mind being spread out except that we had to walk over what we called the poop bridge to get to the food court (a bridge with lots of trees and of course birds!) We are trying POR this time for the theming (I know it's big but if it's beautiful it would be worth it) I personally prefer Deluxes but my wallet doesn't :rotfl2: Good luck and happy vacationing.

We love CBR. We have stayed at POR,CSR also and CBR is the best for us.

Martinique and Trinidad North are the preferred villages costing extra nightly. Many prefer Jamaica or Aruba. They are a short walk across the bridge from Old Port Royale and the main pool.

It is also nice at CBR because each village has its own pool. If the main pool is crowded the quiet pools rarely are.

I loved Caribbean Beach. You'll just have to ask for Preferred Building like Martinique. It's worth the extra $ because you'll be closer to the Food court and pool. The room was great, the food court great, the pool was fantastic and I loved the hammocks on the white sand beach. You can see the fireworks at Epcot from the beach. I think you and the kids will love it! Try something new!!! Have a great trip!! Ely

We LOVE CBR! First trip was with 4 additional family members, we ranged in age from 3.5 to 67, and everyone adored it.

We took my BIL there last year and he can't wait to go back with us in October. DH and I visited our old favorite, POFQ, in May and it just didn't do it for us anymore. I hear many complaints that CBR is too big, but we are walkers/hikers and don't find it a problem at all. I love how open and spacious it feels around the lake. The food court is huge and the grab & go selections are varied.

Martinique seems to be the most popular area..close to Old Port Royale and the pool. We prefer to be across the water away from the crowds.

Also, the Goombay Smash at the Banana Cabana is one of my favorite drinks anywhere.

Haven't stayed at the CBR in a number of years, but we always enjoyed our stays. I love the theming, all the bright colors, the landscaping and the music. We were in Jamaica all 3 times and didn't mind the stroll to OPR. We still go back to eat at the food court and shop. The main pool does get very crowded, but each island has its own pool and my kids preferred being there.

We are staying there this upcoming Thanksgiving. Any more "TIPS" you can give us??
We got the AP rate, and I did not request a certain building, but any other good things about CBR???

Thanks!
DeerH

I at staying at CBR at the end of August. I have read everything on these posts and there are people who definately dislike this resort. The biggest thing I read over and over again is that the resort is too large and spread out. People without a car, who don't want to walk alot, seem to dislike it the most. I have noticed that people who stay in the preferred locations give CBR the best reviews. People also like Aruba and Jamiaca. The least popular locations are Trinidad South and Barbados (from what I read).

The second biggest complaint I hear is housekeeping and the food. Finally, there are some people who just don't like outside entrances.

On the other hand, there are plenty of people who really like this resort. I have never stayed here, so I really don't have an opinion yet. I have stayed at POR and loved it.

If you really want to read some objective reviews on the place, go to tripadvisor.com. Those reviews, in my opinion, seem to be more objective and factual compared to some of the reviews on this board. Again, that it just my opinion. Trip advisor has reviews on every hotel in the orlando area. It is a great site.

I would not recommend this resort to my friends. It's too big and can get very loud.

we've stayed at CBR twice...the first time we were in Trinidad South. (yep - furthest one) and the next time we were in Barbados or Martinique. (this was before they charged extra for "preferred rooms".

Honestly - we didn't mind the walking at all. It was a NICE walk back to our room...along the water and what-not. I have an incredible picture of DH feeding ducks at sunset on the beach there.

I find it odd that so many people complain about the size/walking factor of the resort. Heck - don't you walk all day anyway?

<<I wouldn't mind being spread out except that we had to walk over what we called the poop bridge to get to the food court (a bridge with lots of trees and of course birds!) >>

We stayed there back in the late 90s and enjoyed walking over the bridge to the food court or back from the play area. We loved hearing the birds and the carribean music; it would always get out hips swinging!

We staying at CBR for our 20 anniversary trip and even though both myself and husband liked the resort we both thought it was to quiet and dull for us. Now I know this doesn't make much sense to most people but both of us like a more action, not in the terms of night life, but just watching people. At CBR we felt kind of isolated from everything. It was a beautiful resort, our room was great, the beach was nice, we swam in one of the smaller pools but for our next trip we decided on staying at POP, just everything about this resort appeals to us. We also found out that we spent such a small amount of time in our room that for us it just doesn't pay for us to go with a moderate.

I love CBR. I've stayed there twice. Both times I was in the Martinique section. This was before they started charging extra for the "preferred location", but I would pay the extra if/when we go back there because I really liked the building location.

I have some pictures and comments about CBR on my "Family Vacations" web site. The link is below, if you'd like to take a look. :)

We also like CBR! I like the walk to the food court. We stayed there for 15 days in Dec 2003. The food was good and had NO problem with housekeeping. IT is very pretty. Also they do have an internal bus to take you around the resort.
We liked sitting on the beach and watching the fireworks!

We love CBR and only stay there. That being said, it really is personal preference. Some people (as stated) will never stay there again and some won't go anywhere else (me). We love the theme, the rooms, Old Port Royale, the pools, everything about the resort.

I agree, with Stink, though, people complain about the walk but we are walking all day anyway ;)

One thing that Caribbean Beach does that I wish the deluxe resorts would do is offer a family plan for the length of stay to use the marina boats. I thought I heard that this was still an option available after you check in.
The few times we've stayed there this has been a huge hit with DH and the kids and we definitely got our money's worth.
Those little boats are tons of fun and it's so nice not to have worry about renting them hourly and watching the clock like we do at the deluxe resorts... :flower:
I like the location in martinique - buildings around #26-28 - though I could be wrong about the numbers as it's been quite a while

Wilderness lodge does it. We did it in June!

We have stayed at CBR and really enjoyed it. The tropical theme is fun and relaxing, the rooms are really nice, food court is pretty good. Our favorite is CSr but CBR is in 2nd!

I may be the minority here, but I really did not like it. I was there for 2 nights and was ready to leave the first day. It is WAYYYYY too spread out for my taste. I also did not care to have to walk across a dimly lit parking lot to get to and from the bus stop to my room. I also thought check-in was too disorganized with people checking in over in the area where you had to go to get holiday packages, just because they did not want to wait in line.
