So, as a singer/musician I have a few categories of favorites...
1. Favorite recording in my music library/to hear on radio - Here Comes Santa Claus - The Ray Conniff Singers
Runners up- Twas the Night Before Christmas - Fred Waring; Christmas All Over - Tom Petty
2. Favorite to sing solo - O Holy Night (shocking, but I actually prefer it in English vs. the original French)
*Runners up- Stille Nacht (Silent Night in the original German), Ave Maria (the Shubert version), Adeste Fidelis
3. Favorite to sing in ensemble - Carol of the Bells
*Runner up- Must Be Santa
4. Favorite audience response- Hallelujah Chorus - Handel's Messiah
*It is so ridiculously cool (like major chills) to have the audience rise for this one.
5. Favorite Instrumental - Linus & Lucy - Vince Guaraldi Trio
*Runners up- Carol of the Bells - Lentovich orchestral performance, Sleigh Ride - Leroy Anderson performance
6. Modern/Uncommon - Catching Santa- David Phelps
*Runners up- Christmastime for the Jews -Darlene Love/SNL; We're Not so Bad- Michael Stipe/Olive the Other Reindeer; Snow Miser and Heat Miser Songs from The Year Without a Santa Claus
I have a very large holiday playlist that I own in my iTunes library. This is just a small sample of the 7+ hours of music.
