What's your favorite thing to order at a Chinese Restaurant?

We eat Chinese out all the time and I have never heard of Crab Rangoon - what is it? Everyone seems to love it. And the "buffets" here are pretty icky. We only eat in sit down places. Must just be cause I am in CA (?)

Anyway, my favorite is Hot & Sour soup, Moo Shu Pork and House special fried rice (it has beef, pork and shrimp in it). Our family of three shares all the items.

For a real treat we will have Peking Duck....yummmm!

Crab rangoons are deep fried appetizers with a crabmeat and creamcheese/scallion filling. They are soooo good. The local place makes them triangular shaped, but other places make them shaped like wontons. Delicious!

We just had chinese.

I had vegtable lo-mein and Sesame Chicken. No more chinese for a while. :crazy2:

Moo Goo Gai Pan
Hot -n- Sour soup

Crab Rangoons are delicious. They are called Fried Crabmeat Wontons at our local restaurant.

Believe me when I tell you that there is no crab rangoon to be had in CA, LOL! I've LOOKED! It's not really Chinese food anyway, but boy is it good!! Although, my mom tells me there is a Chinese place in Palm Springs that has the fake Chinese food.

Anyway, chinese food buffets in CA are not the same as the buffets in other parts of the country. When we do have Chinese food out here, we go for sit down as well because the buffets are gross. :D

Honey garlic chicken, chicken with triple mushrooms and beef chow fun.

This thread is getting me hungry. My favorite is Almomd Boneless Chicken with plum sauce, and vegetable fried rice.

A chicken dish, a beef dish and a veg dish, holding off on the rice and noodles. Always tasty.

Wor Shu Gui is my favorite. Does anyone else know what it is? Seems like I could only find it in a few places. I've never found it outside of two counties. But I can't eat it anymore because they use egg in the bredding.

Why do they have to use so many eggs in Chinese food? ::sigh:: I would love to have some, but it just isn't safe enough for me.

Thats one thing I can *barely* controll myself with. I can be such a hog! If its more than just me & DH, We need 2 orders as apetizer. (Once, there were 6 of us and I ordered a tripple order... We ate them ALL!!!!!!)Also, I love almod cookies for dessert::yes::

My favorites used to be won ton soup and General Tso chicken

Actually, Crab Rangoon is not chinese. It was an appetizer that was created by a chef at the famous Trader Vic's resturant.
My dad taught me this recipes in the 60's.

they're "fake Chinese" -- you can't find them in Chinatown ro Flushing. conventional wisdom here in NY is to go to chinatown or Flushing and order what the "locals" (read this: Chinese-Americans) are eating if you want authentic Chinese food.

my personal preferences are a bit more conventional -- Sesame Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, shrimp in pepper sauce, eggplant in garlic sauce, anything with hoisin sauce...
