What's your favorite kind of food, and can you find it at Disney?

I'm partial to ethnic foods. I love Middle Eastern/Mediterranean foods especially. I would like to try Biergarten, but may not be able to make it.

I know there are a few places that serve Middle Eastern type food at Disney; Marrakesh (other Morocco places), Spoodles and one more, I think. I can't remember.

Anyway, I haven't eaten at any of these, and I'm looking forward to it.

I also have Boma lined up in our ADRs for our trip.


Are you a meat and potatoes kind of person? Seafood? Chinese??

Are you satisfied with the quality of your favorite foods at Disney?

my family loves the ESPN Club but we are also huge fans of chicken wings, burgers and fries, etc. We also love Flametree Barbecue in Animal Kingdom but then again we are from Buffalo and love anything barbecue- enough said!!!

Honestly, I don't know of any of them that would be considered "on the edge" ethnic. I think you'll be pleased with Boma.

But, yeah, I like Mediterranean. Spoodles has drifted away from its fiercely Mediterranean roots, but we still like it. Marrakesh gets little more exotic than the "sweet meats," but there again, it's not out there.

I'd like some Thai, or some really good Indian. Or (drum roll), somewhere that served authentic Southern, which would be of the chicken and dumplings/fried okra/turnip greens variety. Don't y'all dare laugh at me. To someone from Missoula, Montana, that'd be pretty ethnic.

A really fine steak pleases me as much as anything, and I've had some better than decent steaks at WDW.

As a southerner, I'd never laugh at that!


Good southern food is hard to find outside of the south. It usually ends up overcooked, bland and mushy.

A finer dining southern restaurant is a good idea for the Orlando area.

We love Thai- nowhere to get it at WDW, though. I do have high hopes for the new AK TS restaurant, Yak & Yeti- the menu is supposed to be "Pan-Asian" and "Asian Fusion". Hopefully, that means some diverse food from various Asian countries. We'd love Thai, and be great with Indian, Mongolian, Vietnamese, Korean, or Chinese.

Indian, and while there are a couple of spots that have a little of it, I haven't eaten any at WDW yet.

You'll find that Boma has a good amount of Mediterranean-type African food that is similar to Middle Eastern.

I love Thai too. I wish there was somewhere in WDW to find Nime Chow, or Pad Thai.

My favorites:

Sushi - haven't tried it yet at Disney but will on the next trip, at Teppanyaki and either Wolfgang Pucks or Cali Grill.

Mexican - Not impressed with San Angel Inn, but I'm very spoiled by an excellent, authentic local Mexican place that has been a family favorite since I was a teenager. The food at San Angel is good but not great, IMO, and I doubt we'll go back.

Thai - not availble at Disney

DH is a meat & potatoes guy, and he loves Disney food. He had steak or prime rib at every dinner on our last trip with a one night break for lobster, and he's looking forward to the same on this trip.

I love sushi too! I've tried the sushi restaurant In Epcot (the small one next to Tepanyaki), but it will be closed during our trip for renovations.

The California grill sushi is not authentic as they mix the rice with a wheat based ingredient. (I'm gluten free and I had them check before I ordered.)

I have read that there is a Japanese restaurant at the Swan resort, so I may check that out.

Indian is noticeably missing from the WDW menus. Oh well. I have a top-notch favorite for that here at home anyway.

German is my one "must do" on every trip to Epcot. The Beirgarten is excellent.

I also enjoy the Tangerine cafe in Morocco, as well as the sit down restaurant there. I think you'll find it good for a middle-eastern fix.

My top 10 favorite meals are all things DW cooks, and no one can top her cooking!

But in terms of stuff we might eat out at a restaurant, my favorite is a good filet mignon. I haven't found any at WDW as good as the ones I cook at home (starting with tenderloin from my local butcher, which makes all the difference in the world - my cooking skills are nothing special). But, I've only been to less than a dozen of the restaurants in WDW, so that good-tasting, cut-it-with-a-fork-tender filet may be out there somewhere!

In terms of something more complicated than slapping a piece of meat on a grill, we don't usually buy that sort of thing at restaurants. It's just never as good as DW makes at home. So we usually go out for steak, lobster - that sort of thing.

Of course, we do buy those kinds of things at WDW, but so far we haven't found anything that knocks our socks off. Some was good, some was OK, and that's about it.

We're hoping that our upcoming trip will afford us the opportunity to sample a greater range of WDW's food offerings. Maybe we'll find something outstanding!

Ransom, you're like me ... my steaks are as good, if not better, than anyone's. Like Dizzy Dean said, "It ain't braggin' if you can do it." I have eaten at another Shula's (not the WDW location), and it's really fine, although a 2nd mortgage might be in order.

I thought the sushi at the California Grill was good, and the presentation was spectacular, but I can't vouch for the authenticity.

Hey, ogreenlee, we were neighbors for a while, sort of ... we lived in Buford, pre-Mall of Georgia. And the Blue Willow Inn over in Social Circle is the gold standard for what I'm talkin' about (altho the Dillard House is right up there alongside it.) Hoo, baby. Like I said, THAT'S all ethnic, too, depending on where you might live, like Spokane.

That's what we like too. I would also like Thai food because I've never tried it in a restaurant but I've made my own Pad Thai.
