Thanks - now I'm going to look even MORE like a "duh" because I don't know a hymn from a song! I'll try though:

Jesus Loves Me

Go Tell It On The Mountain

------------

Did I get them right?

It is sad but my husband won't let me sing in public. It's too embarrassing for him and our children. He's always poking me in the side during church.

I have so many! Here are a few:

How Great Thou Art
Amazing Grace
To God Be The Glory
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Blessed Assurance
The Old Rugged Cross

I could go on and on!

Amazing Grace............. hands down...... so much so that, after DS6 (almost 6, that is) was born, I came up with a song for him (sung in the style of Amazing Grace) called Amazing Rob.

If you want the words, I'll give 'em, but I won't sing 'em.

Beautiful Savior

Here I Am, Lord
by Daniel L. Schutte
(based on Isaiah 6:8)

I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save.

I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my peoples pain.
I have wept for love of them.
They turn away.

I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my word to them,
Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.

Finest bread I will provide
Till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them
Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

If you've never heard this hymn (it's a contemporary Catholic one), please take my word for it that melody is absolutely beautiful and haunting. :)

My family is responding as a whole. We have too many. DDs favorite is "Lord of the Dance." Mine is "Here I am Lord" posted here by Jersey Janice. (I don't know that it is just Catholic as it is in the Methodist Hymnal.) DSs is "Life High the Cross." DHs is "Eternal Father, Strong to Save" also known as the Navy hymn. Other family favorites are "Marching to Zion," "Soon and Very Soon," "Thy Word is a Lamp," and "Lord, You Have Come to the Lakeshore."

We're Methodist, we sing them all.

Panis Angelicus

Janice - I agree that Here I Am Lord is a wonderful one too.

Amazing Grace. It make's me cry everytime I hear it.

As a little girl I loved singing "When the Saint's Go Marching In" though I don't know if that is the correct title for the hymn. Ahhh....happy memories of church with grandma and grandpa and all my great aunts and uncles. :) :) :) :):)

I have many favorites, but the ones that come to mind first are:

Amazing Grace (especially on the bagpipes)
Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah
God, Be in My Head
