what's your favorite flavor of ice cream?

I'm scared to have kids after some of the things I read here on the DIS. Not because I am afraid I can't raise them properly, but because of the parents of the other children they will be around.

You only have to worry about the helicopter parents. The rest of us won't be around. We leave the little hellions to their own. :rotfl::rotfl:

In all seriousness, I find it hard to believe there are kids "all over the place" throwing balls. In every school I've been to the school balls are only out during recess, they are then brought inside the building when all the recesses are over. No public school is going to leave the balls out when there is no supervision, they don't have the money to continually replace them.

So, if the school balls aren't out and the kids are just getting out of school, where are they getting all these balls? My guess is it's just a couple of children throwing balls. If it is truely causing a dangerous situation then it would be your job as an ADULT to ask the kids to move. Not all kids get picked up by their parents, especially older ones, so their might not be a parent their to tell them. I will tell you that if there is a parent there when you discipline your child one of 3 things will happen. The parent will get mad at you, they will realize that the behavior is annoying other people or they will tell their kid to ignore you and try not to hit you.

THANK YOU to whoever it was on the first page that followed the new rule. :flower3: I opened the thread for the first time just now and was really confused about why people were talking about playground balls after the OP about ice cream.

ETA: I like mint chocolate chip. :p

How did this thread title suddenly change to "What is your favorite flavor of ice cream"??? :confused3

Well - I'll bite - black raspberry - but I hardly ever get it.. So - next best is neopolitan - I like to have all 3 flavors at once..:thumbsup2

I like coffee ice cream. I especially like it when I am watching my kids throw the ball around at the playground.

I sure would like to know where you read this article on children and exercise. Children do not play near as much as they did when I was a child. Do a Google search on children and exercise and you will get quite a few hits to the contrary of your article.

I seriously doubt that the "evil" HFCS is causing hyperactivity. They are CHILDREN and they are known to have quite a bit of energy. Did you not play as a kid?

The other week I noticed an article about recent studies of kids and activities, and they showed it wasn't actually true. Kids are getting the same amount of exercise and play as before. (I remember this b/c I put the blame on the pretend sugars that spike blood sugar that are in SO many snack and "kid" foods, and I loved that this article went hand in hand with it)

I'm thinking that the people who think this is OK don't remember how much those big red rubber balls HURT when you get hit by them! I remember!!!

But my elementary school had a HUGE playground area, and the blacktop was the ONLY place balls could be used. The geodesic dome was down the hill (dirt!) and in its own tanbark (beauty bark to some) area with slide, swings, and rocket climby thing. No balls allowed. Then there was the field, only balls during supervised activities. Then there was the other area where me and my friends would play "fort" and house and all sorts of things. AGain, no balls allowed. Obviously, though my school was tiny, our playground was huge, and they didn't want to lose balls or take 10 extra minutes to go have to get the balls that might have been left.

So honestly, I'm with the OP. Sounds like a bunch of kids getting too wild; I'd want them to tone it down a bit. Of course...if they are all eating Uncrustables and given fruit snacks (other than organic ones), it's probably the HFCS causing the way-too-hyper activity and violence of throwing balls too hard.

I saw the arrow on the thread (saying I posted here) and was like shoot I am one of those people who posted on the wrong thread.... not so much just a change of title :lmao:

Mint n' chip

AND what happened? I thought this was a thread about flying playground balls?

I really think they have changed Ben n Jerry's -- it doesn't taste as rich as it once was.

Mint n' chip

AND what happened? I thought this was a thread about flying playground balls?

It was but it wasn't going her way so she took her balls and went home. Well, maybe they were the kids on the playgrounds balls. Not sure.

AND what happened? I thought this was a thread about flying playground balls?

It was. I don't think the OP expected so many people to disagree with her. And she got one response that "vindicated" her, so she was done. Now we are talking about ice cream I guess.

Mint chocolate chip

Interesting way to change the subject...

Ben & Jerry's Cake Batter ice cream
Ben & Jerry's Chocolate fudge brownie
Chocolate Haagen Daz

I refuse to go to the ice cream parlor. Have you been to one lately? There are tons of kids in those places and you will never guess what they are doing? Eating ice cream! The nerve. They end up letting it drip down their faces and they touch things with sticky little fingers. Yuck! I wish parents would keep their kids are home where they belong.

I don't eat ice cream, the HFCS might make me violent.

I love Edy's Slow-Churned Peppermint ice cream and Haagen Dasz Five mint ice cream. No balls or nuts anywhere in the vicinity, thankyouverymuch.
