We always seem to eat at the same old places at WDW. We need to venture away from the comfort of familiarity.....

We are a 40-something couple with four sons, 13, 12, 9 and 4-1/2.

What are your favorite three restaurants and why would you recommend them to us?

hoop-d-doo~~everyone enjoys this and has a great time!
Tusker House(breakfast)--very good character meal
Jiko~~fabulous food, but not sure if the little guy would enjoy it
Mama Melrose~~studios. good italian
Biergarten~~germany, but can be hit or miss w/food
The Plaza~~MK. great sandwiches and sundaes
Artist Point~~wilderness lodge, again not sure about the little guy
wolfgang puck express~~DTD. good choices for everyone

that is a few a thought of.....:yay:

We think Sanaa is the best restaurant at Disney! It's at the kidani village which is AKL's DVC. It is wonderful and there is something everyone would like. My 2 year old love the cheeseburger and got some yummy mashed potatoes. We love the Naan bread with different chutneys, raitas and hummus.

Also you might like to try Boma, Jiko, Ohana, California Grill (during Wishes), Tokyo Dining and The Wave!

Yummy!

Hmmm...top 3....

Ohana for dinner. Really tasty, great atmosphere.
Plaza - anytime. Simple, excellent food, awesome desserts.
Sci-fi for lunch. Good food, fun atmosphere.

And I know you said three, but I'm terrible at choices, so....

Tusker House for breakfast. Excellent variety, great service, fun atmosphere.
Teppan Edo for dinner. Fun, service is a little rushed, but the food is great!

Based on your family breakdown:

'Ohana: I can't even describe it. By FAR, our favorite restaurant in WDW.

Sci-Fi: I'm guessing your sons would like this place. I know I do!

T-Rex: again, I think it would be great for your kids. Food is good, not great, comparable to Rainforest Cafe.

Hello from another western PA'er!

My favorite signature restaurants (if you're in the mood for fine dining):
Citrico's
Flying Fish Cafe
Jiko's

My favorite TS restaurants because they're somewhat different in theming:
50s Prime Time Cafe...home cooked meals with a little sass thrown in from the CM. All done in a retro 50s kitchen.
Sci Fi Dine-In...basic menu but you're sitting in a booth that's shaped like a car with all seat facing forward. While you dine (in semi-darkness) you watching sci-fi movie clips from the 50s & 60s. Campy fun but the food is only average.
Coral Reef...wonderful atmosphere for watching the fish in the huge aquarium. I like the lunch menu better than dinner.

My favorite TS restaurants based on really good food:
Kona Cafe...great for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
LTT for lunch they have a nice variety on the menu and anything I've tried has been really good. It's a nice cool break w/o having to leave the MK.
Boma's is great if your family is more adventurous with the foods they enjoy. The variety on the dinner buffet is wonderful!

Have a great time!

Wow, my favorite three...that would be like asking my who my favorite three of say five kids are. Having said that I'd say my favorite three are:
Narcoossee's
California Grill
Jiko (sorry Citrcos & Artist Pointe, I still love you)

You should be able to find a menu item for everyone at Narcoossee's and you'll enjoy it too! If you time it right, you can go out on the deck to watch the Wishes fireworks show (they pipe in the music).

California Grill is awsome too. The smaller ones will like the fireworks here, you go out on the roof to watch Wishes and they pipe in the music. If you're into sushi, it is the best here. They do have flatbreads which may fill the kids up if they want to try something outside of the typical kids menu.

Jiko is a unique menu. Love the duck salad. No fireworks here, that I know of anyway. Agian, along with a kids menu, they have menu items for the not so adventurus, but if you're willing to go out of your comfort zone you won't be disappointed.

Having said ALL that, DW and I love the signature restaurants. We go to Disney World for the dinning. Good luck!

Fulton's Crab House - Great seafood menu, cool restaurant, great service, great prices

Ohana - Great atmosphere, great food, a lot of food - not a buffet, but is delivered to your table, different meats and different flavors

Favorite table service:
Artist Point
Le Cellier
Tutto Italia

Favorite Show:
Hoop De Do

Favorite Character Meal:
Chef Mickey's

Have fun!!!

LeCellier--the pretzel bread and beer cheese soup are to die for. Add on the cream cheese mashed potatoes and maple creme brulee and it's just like heaven!
Kona--everything about this place is totally chill and the food is delicious too!
Crystal Palace--this buffet is totally disney to me. Great food, great character interaction and the best restaurant in the magic kingdom by far.

My 3 favorites are:

-Boma (dinner)
-Biergarten (dinner)
-Crystal Palace (breakfast)

My favorite three (I have a few but will only list 3)
Narcoossee's
Chef de France
Citricos

My husband
Jiko
Narcoosee's
Hollywood Derby

My son
Tusker House Breakfast buffet
Crystal Palace
Hollywood and vine

Let's see

My favorite 3...
1) Boma- lots of flavor and new items to try. The soups are fabulous.
2) O'hana- breakfast, "WOW" is all I can say
3) Chef Mickey's

My DH's...
1) Cape May Cafe
2) Biergarten (Good selection of German foods, something we don't have in our area)
3) O'hana

My 3 kids... (they are close to the same age as your older 3)
1) Hands down... the Sci-fi... they loved the food, sitting in the car, and the hokey movies.
2) Garden grill- all you can eat with Chip and Dale, Mickey and Pluto
3) probably the Cape May Cafe (they all love seafood)

I haven't been to enough restaurants yet to have a top 3, but Ohanas is definately on the top of my list.

Coral Reef is cool for the experience but not the food.

1. O'hana's: There is enough selection for every taste. The food is not exotic so even my picky teenagers had pleanty to eat.
2. Germany; The buffet has a good selection of German food. There is also some adventerous items. Again the picky eaters found lots to eat.
3. California Grill (with a big BUT) I think kids might have a hard time finding plain and simple food. If it's adults, it has great selections of not your typical Disney food.

1. Le Celier -hands down the best. Fantastic beer, great steaks, and the cheddar cheese soup is to die for.
2. Jiko -eclectic menu.
3. Boma -best buffet on property.

As two adults whose kids are grown we like:

Narcoosee's
Flying Fish
Jiko

We haven't tried Citrico's, Kouzzina, and Artist Point yet and will be doing so in October and December.

We also recently enjoyed Sci-Fi Theater for lunch. The cool, dark atmosphere was perfect for lunch on a hot day. I had the cheeseburger and chocolate shake and DBF had the Rueben and a margarita. It was all good, but we probably wouldn't go there for dinner.
