What's your BTMR line strategy?

What I am referring to is the part of the line near the front where it splits and you have to make a decision if you want to head left or right. What is your decision typically based on? I would think that most people head for the shortest line. I tend to take the longer line thinking that it's now the longer line's turn to begin moving. Obviously there are other factors that could come into play. Then again I could be putting more thought than I should since it's not like I'd be saving myself that much time

I don't think there's much difference. I tend to either head toward the line that's currently moving or if their both stopped then I'll go to the longest since it'll move next. Only time I go to the shorter one is if it looks like it's shorter by 10 or more people.

Couple weeks ago I purposely picked the longest line because their was two annoying young girls behind me. My plan worked and they went to the other one lol

I use the left because if you think about it, the right side is actually wider and so it might look like there is less people, but there actually isn't.

Ok, I give up, what does BTM stand for?

To answer your question, I close my eyes and just pick one.

Theoretically this is correct -- but you're only talking about a max of 2-4 people difference. That's unlikely to make a difference.

I think it's big thunder mountain railroad.

I just follow my family, because they might kill me if I actually planned that level of detail and told them which direction to go!

Oh, I never would have guessed that mainly because BTMR is the common acronym and because it's not the only ride with that same split. ToT has one too. Maybe another I'm forgetting. Made me think there must be an acronym for that type of line split I didn't know about

We usually pick the longer line, but I feel like I always end up saying “should’ve picked the other line”. I need to be more optimistic because really by that point neither line is a long wait.

One of the trains usually have people in wheelchairs waiting in a separate queue to transfer into the back seats. If I ride it more than once, I try to pay attention to which side is doing the wheelchair transfers and avoid heading down that side at the split.

I always go right. There is absolutely no scientific data backing this decision...but it always feels right to me.

I've seen BTM used for this ride before. It was the first ride I thought about when I read the post.

I just changed the title so that it doesn't cause confusion

If my memory isn't failing me (and at my age that's entirely possible) the line on the right is always the wheelchair line. I know the wheelchair line is always the same line, the wheelchair loading area never moves. If they take it down to 1 train only, that's the train they are running. And I'm fairly sure the line on the right is the one that loads on to that particular side of the trains. Unless there's a turn in the line I'm forgetting.

You are correct it is always that side

It depends. If there have been annoying people in front of me before the split, I go opposite from them. Otherwise, I don't really think about it. I did read somewhere (I don't know where) that to go left is shorter because Americans tend to go right. I have no scientific data to prove that and don't even remember where I read it.

I find that as Americans, we tend to keep right, so I usually go to the left, unless there's an obvious difference in the two and the right is shorter.
