Geez, my niece wants this game for Christmas and it is sold out everywhere, except e-bay of course where they are selling for $50 and up plus shipping (it's retail price is $30). Why is it so popular? My husband is now mad at me because I refuse to pay double it's worth just so she can have it for Christmas (never mind I've already spent $100 on clothes and stuff for her). (I also refuse to pay the prices for the Xbox 360 off of e-bay just so he can have it for Christmas.)

Beats me. :confused3 I'm surprised, especially because it's been out for at least a couple years now. My DD owns the game---you can tell your DH that while it's an ok game, it's *not* worth over $50! Your niece can survive without it. :)

Uh oh! My DD has it on her list. I haven't bought it yet because I didn't think that would be a hard one to find. I knew that it was an old game so I figured I could get that one at last minute if needed. I do plan to shop some Saturday. I hope I can find it here. Thanks for the heads up.

Brianne, I know that the age says "9 and up." My DD is 7 that is asking for it. I was going to go on and get it anyway, though, because my other DD is 10. I figured that they could play together. The game isn't too complicated or too much for a 7 yr. old is it?

It is definitely not a new game...I'm 24 and got mine when I was 12 and I asked for it for a few years before I got it. If I knew my Mom still had it at her house, I'd offer to send it, but her basement is a scary, scary place! For some reason, it always gets popular around Christmas time.

I don't think it would be too complicated for your seven-year-old. You are given a card and have to buy the things on your card. Sometimes you get a sales price and sometimes you have to pay full price. One person is the banker and makes change, so even if her addition/subtraction skills aren't great yet, it wouldn't be a problem. My DD (10) got the game for Christmas last year and she and her sister really like it. I think part of it is that they like that the board is set up to look like a two-story mall.

I had mall madness when I was 11 or so. I don't remember playing it much. ( I imagine this was one of the first versions. I didn't realize it was still being sold.)

Too bad...I had one that I just sold for 1.00 at my yard sale this past summer. I could have made a fortune! :teeth:

:rotfl: I think I still have mine from about 1996 or so! I'm sure it's much "hipper" now. :)

Well, it makes a lot more noise now, in the very least. :rotfl: When I said it was out for a couple years now, I meant the noisy version. I seem to recall it being a quiet version from when I was a kid.

TLHB70, I think it'd be fine for her. Doesn't seem complicated--I think the main reason why they have it at that age is the math, I'd guess. However, my younger ones think the sounds are fun & let the older ones do the actual gameplay.

I still don't think it's worth $50 though. I wonder if my DD would miss it--I could make some money on ebay. :rolleyes1

Thanks. Actually my 7 yr. old DD LOVES math. It is her favorite subject, and she is very good at it. I think that she will do fine. She plays Monopoly all of the time so she is fine working with the money.
I guess I should start to look for it ASAP.

Our WalMart has tons of them, for $26.99.

My DD wants it too, but she wants LOTS of things...and we have tons of board games already, so I wasn't planning on buying it. However, I didn't realize there was math involved :teeth: I thought it was just one of those "fluffy" games. DD may get one after all. It's sounds fun with educational vlaue :)

Ooh, I just checked WalMart online and they are out! So is Amazon - who knew!

Okay, I hate for a kids to miss out what they want for Christmas. If you want me to pick one up for you and ship it, I would not charge you anything but my actual cost. I will be at Wal Mart on Monday Dec 12th anyway, and I pass right by the post office on my way home. However, you've already purchased a lot for your niece so you may not want to bother. I have no clue how much it would cost to ship. PM me if you are interested.

Laurie :)
