I took this picture on Thursday. Is this some kind of tradition that girls throw hair bands at the top when you are stopped? I thought it was funny and better then gum (which I have seen at other parks). Anyone know what's up here? Just curious.

I don't know but now that you've posted this there are going to be a whole lot more of them up there.

If I had to guess, it would be Elsa fans doing their own "Let it go" homage.
In the scene with the song Let it Go, after Elsa climbs to the top of the snow covered mountain, and makes her ice palace, she tosses off her crown and throws it up into the air, then lets her hair down. I'm sure ponytail holders are a cheap alternative to a souvenir crown.
That's my theory, but hey, who knows.

Well crap. :rotfl2: And here I had thought AK had managed to escape the Frozen invasion.

Ponytail holders were there before Frozen. Better than the bras you see in the trees alongside ski lifts :(

Exact same thing up at the top of Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach when we were there in November. This was new for us since our last visit in 2011.

I've lost a lot of ponytail elastics on roller coasters.

I doubt they are "thrown" but rather are flying off people's heads.

You see them on almost all roller coasters, not just at Everest.

I was going to say the same thing. I bet those hair bands are whipped out of people's hair as they fly backwards back down that hill.

I wore one of those claw clips in mine last time I ride EE and it got sucked out of my hair. I had to grab it to hold onto it.

No, I definitely think they are up there on purpose. They are only on the right side of the track. You are stopped at that part for a few moments so for it to get ripped out of your hair and only to the right would be hard to accomplish. Now, if they were on both sides, I would be more inclined to believe that it was accidental. I have seen many people on our trips take their hair band out and throw it up there. This was actually cleaned up in July when we went. No hair bands except for one or two. Fast forward to our trip in November and there were tons up there again.

The BB ones are definitely on purpose-they are thrown from the "Ski Lift".:)

my brothers first time on EE this past november, he instantly goes " look at all the hair elastics" and couldnt stop laughing haha

I don't remember seeing these on EE, but at the local amusement park the SkyLift goes past the top of the carousel (the tallest roof), on which many a teenager has tried to be the one to throw their hairband closest to the top. (Myself included :rolleyes2) Maybe guests are trying to do the same thing?

Not sure I know what you mean by, "etter."

A growing girl letting her hair down versus a grown woman letting her.......

And for those waiting on the West coast.....Santa is on his way.....

We noticed them for the first time a few days ago as well---I don't think they were there when we visited in April.

We were there last February and road EE many times and noticed them too. I would think maybe one or two were by accident then the rest started to be left by followers who want to leave their mark.

It's a virginity thing. When you lose your virginity you throw your hair band away because you no longer need to wear a pony tail like a little girl does.

It is amazing how people have so little respect for others and just toss trash around. It looks terrible and should be cleaned up by Disney every day. But i guess it isn't much different than all the trash and dead bodies on top of the real Everest.
