Whats with all the plane crashes

My wife is scared silly of flying, hates it and only tolerates it because of the need to have a holiday, I've had to stop buying papers, keeping off news channels and changing channels on the radio whenever news comes on!!! This way she knows nothing of whats happenned this week !!!

Sad news though it is, I personally find it better for my well-being not to ponder on it too much.

Tell me about it I was thinking the same thing. Not sure what is happening, but hopefully they get it all sorted out and more mechanical checks before departure will be in place.

Terrible business.

I wouldn't watch the pilot episodes of 'Lost' either if you are nervous of flying.

I'm not a nervous flier, more uncomfortable while I'm on it - especially during take off and landing! However I've just been to dentist to have a filling replaced and it suddenly occurred to me in the middle of drilling that I'd much rather have been on a plane! Actually I told my daughter I'd much rather be on Tower of Terror - hope she doesn't hold me to it!!

I know what's up, me and Scott are about to go on holiday. Whenever either of us book a trip, there are always several crashes in the run up. Doesn't help that I'm scared of flying! I really shouldn't be allowed to go anywhere...

They are all terrible losses of life but aviation remains incredibly safe, especially if you fly with a well respected carrier. The thing about a plane crash is that they dont happen often at all but when they do it is the sensationalism of so many souls on board.

If you want to go to to far away places there is no truly comparable alternative.

In future could you please warn me before you go so I can avoid air travel at all costs then!

I think when a disaster happens it always seems more vivid if you're about to make the same journey/visit nearby/know someone there etc.

It is very sad when something like this happens to so many people at once, but if you stand at somewhere like Heathrow for 15 minutes and see how many planes are constantly coming in and out you realise it cant be that bad - and that's one airport in one city, think of it in world wide terms!

Thought that when I watched it also. :earseek:

I love aviation, I work close to an admittedly small airport in Blackpool but I often pay visits to Manchester. The sheer amount of planes up in the air at any one time in the world would make you sit down in the nearest seat and gasp.

I have read initial thoughts into the Venezuela tragedy and what that plane suffered in a double engine failure is almost unheard of in aviation history. I hate flying and would not fly for a good few years, i learned the whole thing about how these birds fly and I wont have a problem in October despite all the loss of human life. Relax and enjoy the flight, you wont have a problem and your holiday will be all your expect.
