I'm heading down this fall, and working on setting the itinerary. Read about Wispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. Wondering if anyone has eaten there and if they could provide some details about it. Is it a show? or a buffet? or served family style? Is it worth it?
Thanks!

WCC is an experience...

It isn't a buffet and it isn't a "show" per se. You either order specific menu items or you can get an all-you-can-eat skillet.

The atmosphere can vary depending on when you go and the servers that are working. When we were there we witnessed everything from folks being "punished" for chewing bubble gum by having to wear the gum on their forheads, to a group of "birthday" girls having to ride stick ponies around the restaurant, and of course there were those people who just had to ask for ketchup (they make you stand up and yell for ketchup and everyone is supposed to bring you their bottle). Oh, and there was a table next to us where the kid asked for a straw.... I think the straw they brought out was 4 feet long!!!

It can be a really fun place to eat, and the food is pretty good too. One issue I had was that it was really really loud. When I was out in the lobby waiting I received a phone call, I had to go outside to just so I could hear.

Other than that, it was great!

WCC is my favorite place to eat w/children. They do a fun pony race, and the whole ketchup thing is pretty funny too. Don't use your cell phone inside... LOL...you'll find out why!

Thanks for the details!! Sounds like fun! I have 2 children (ages 2 and 6) I'm sure they'll like it!

My boys are 4 and 7. We had dinner there last week, and they LOVED it! I didn't tell them anything, so they were really surprised. I requested a "loud" server. We had a lady with long braids in her hair, and she was great! The four year old asked for a straw, she reached into her pocket, pulled out about 10, and threw them at him. He had the funniest look on his face that I've ever seen!

Later DS4 wouldn't stay in his seat, so I said that I was going to ask for a baby chair. Our server heard me as she was taking orders at another table. She stopped, turned around, and told him that if I did I would have to sit in it!!! He loved that one too!!!

They had stick horse races around the room, gave the kids wooden nickles, and made them do a silly pledge.

The food wasn't the best, but it was very good. You should definitely go!!!

Oh, I almost forgot... As DS4 was coloring he accidentaly made a mark on the cloth napkin. When our server saw it she asked him who did it. He had a scared look and quietly said "I did." Well she smiled really big and shouted "Great idea!" She finished his picture (on the napkin) for him then showed it to all the other servers. She even made a puppet out of it before dinner was over.

DS7 wasn't left out either. His favorite moment was when she shouted to a very pretty little girl at another table... "Hey princess, how old are you?" She was 8. So she said "Do you like younger men with no teeth? I've got you a cute one here!" Since he loves girls, he was in heaven!!!

They also enjoyed ketchup and crayon calls. DS4 even loved it when it was announced that he was doing the Pee-pee dance and for everyone to get out of his way as he ran to the bathroom - with a red-faced Dad following him!!

ENJOY!!!
