What's the youngest you have or would take a baby to WDW?

We are in the same boat. I am pg now and we are trying to decide if we should take the trip or not. We REALLY want to and we took our 3 year old last year who LOVED it and is wanting to go back so badly. We have a chance to go at the end of Sept and my dr plans to induce me around Aug 20th if the baby is ready. So that would put us going with a 6 week old.

I asked on the comunity board just to get opinions on it and I think 90% of people thought it was a bad idea. Still it has not totally changed my mind. I also have heard many say they do travel with young babies at that age and have no problems and they actually are easier than older ones. We are still very tempted to plan this trip and "kinda" have but not booked yet..lol My dr said it should be fine as long as we take steps to keep the baby cool by going into the ac every little bit. We love the shops and all so this is no problem for us. We are not going commado style either. Just going tobe out there to enjoy it and let out 3 year old have a blast and enjoy the dining, trade some pins, relax, etc.. I think we will be just fine the more thought I put into it. I know it is not for everyone and MANY will say it is a terrible idea but everyone has to do what is right for their family. We think this would be a great trip for us providing all goes well with my pregnancy the rest of the time the the delivery and all. (this has been my biggest holdback, fear of complications but I know I can't just consume myself with that worry)

So, I say if it is right for you guys and your other kids will love it go for it. You will have a blast I am sure! :)

To address the issue of immunity, our babies are subjected to FAR more by just being in the hospital when they are born. They're also exposed to a vast array of illnesses from school aged children as well, whether it be through the siblings of the child, other visiting relatives, or the general public. A simple trip to the grocery store can be as "dangerous" to a baby's immune system as any other environment.

That said, I'm breastfeeding, so the baby does get my immunities. And I'm a mother of six, so it's hardly something I've not had experience with in the past. We have traveled with babies as young as 2 months and as old as 11 years. I see no reason why, barring any major complication or problem, that a healthy infant cannot travel and, within reason, go to an event or park like this. We have heat and humidity at home. It just takes some common sense (and UV protection) and it's a very easy situation. I cannot understand why five other kids should not be able to go at that time, just because there is a new baby in the family. Travelling with a 2-3 month old is vastly easier than a baby who wants to get out of the seat and crawl, mouth everything, toddle around, touch every handrail and doorway and use the public restrooms. THAT'S something I'd be more concerned about.

Well we just did it!

We just got back from a 10 day stay at OKW and the BWV. We had a 4, 2 and a 11 week old on the trip.

Things went very well with the infant. He sat in our stroller fully reclined most of the trip. We put a blanket on his legs and used the sunshade. He wore a very cute infant Mickey Hat and most of all he was an awesome traveler!

On most days I did put Waterbabies sunscreen on his legs, sometimes on his arms. I told my Ped. I was doing this. We tried to stay in the shade while we walked.

Depending on the ride my DH would carry him in the Baby Bjorn or I would carry him in my arms. He BF on Its a Small World which because he enjoyed so much was not a very good feeding. He kept watching the dolls! Spaceship Earth was probably the best one I found to feed him on.

We used the BF rooms at the childcare centers at MK and AK. We used the MK one quite a bit. It was a nice family break when we did.

We had no problems on the plane (he was a lap child). On the way down the plane was not full so he got a seat, on the way back my DH carried him in the Baby Bjorn.

All and all it was great. We definetly had more problems with the older 2 than him.

We took our kids 5, 4, and 4 month old last May and it was a BLAST!!!! I was a little nervous about taking a four month old that was nursing all the time. However I purchased a Maya Wrap Sling before we left and it was a God send for the trip and life in general too. I nursed him everywhere in the maya wrap, and he did fine. I never even visited the baby stations. There changing areas in the regular restrooms and I packed everything we needed in the diaper bag and put it under the stroller.
We had such a great time we are going back this August. Go for it and have a wonderful time. :thumbsup2
