What's the worst thing that's ever happened within walking distance of your home?

Murder of a couple in the parking area of the condo community next to the one I live in. The guy started a huge murder spree that day. Woke up and was watching the news that AM and thinking how familiar that location looked that was on tv. At first I couldn’t think of anything but then I remembered. Almost 8 years ago two deputies were killed just over a mile from my home. One was killed in a Panera and the other was outside. It was such a horrible day around here.

Right outside house. We live on a corner lot. This guy who lived diagonal to us fled a hit and run about 5 minutes away and drove home and smashed into the tree on the side of our house. It was Christmas Day 3 years ago. The Police were there until the next morning . The police was constantly at that house. I was glad when the house sold last year.

The house across the street burned to the ground one night. Our bedroom is on the back of our house; we slept thru the whole thing.
