What's the weirdest thing you have intentionally eaten?

Hmm, I like to think I'm open-minded and willing to try new things, but after readin' what y'all have tried.. .well I guess I'm a wuss! LOL!

I tried frog's legs *years* ago--yep taste like chicken. Calamri, fried, very yummy. Almost tried some type of octopus dish at a party at my Greek boss's house, but seeing those suction cups was too weird, and I wussed out! :(

I've seen several things about those. What did you think? Is it something you would eat again?

I think the 100 year old eggs taste like regular eggs, except they have a slightly creamier taste to them. Actually, if you didn't notice the colour, you might think you were eating a regular egg... at least that's what they taste like to me :p I usually have them in congee ... it's a Chinese soup that is made of rice & water (and other ingredients) and has the consistency of porridge.

OMG...and I thought I had eaten weird things.

I forgot one, pig or cow intestines in some Mexican soup. Wasn't bad, but couldn't do it again knowing it was intestines.

We know congee as rice porridge or rice gruel. Gongee actually sounds more appetizing! That's probably one of the Chinese dishes I most dislike. DBF's dad talked about eating it in the Taiwanese military.

I've had alligator. It's not bad so long as its spiced right.

Wierdest thing though was octopus. It was so gross. It turned me off ALL sea food for the rest of my life. I can't even smell sea food now without feeling like I'm going to throw up because the texture and taste is still there. EWWWWWW!!!!

Waffles and Clam Chowder together...I was pregnant.

I don't eat anything beyond the ordinary really. No roadkill specials or reptiles for me thank you very much. Some things just shouldn't be eaten. *shiver* ;)

When I first read
cooter (turtle
I thought this thread was taking a downhill turn pretty fast. ;)

I eat vinegar in a bowl with a spoon, like it's soup! I can drink it straight from the bottle too. Oh and I love to eat pickled cauliflower and drink the pickling juice. So strange...

I am so not an adventurous type! DH likes to see me squirm when he puts shows on that have someone eating odd things, he knows I would always be the first loser voted off when it comes to food contests.

My oddest is drinking pickle juice, or cream chees and jelly sandwiches, whooo hooo real scary huh

Which are fried pork (and hopefully thoroughly washed out!) intestines. Ate them as a child before I knew not to trust adults!:teeth:

Chitlins are good!::yes::

chinese restaurant we attend was raided by police who found CATS in the freezer. Funny, they DO taste like chicken.

Oh yeah, I forgot about souse. Its the meat and cartilage off a pigs head, gelled into a loaf(resembles spam) You eat it in a bowl covered with vinegar.

Hogfan, LMAO!

My husband and I attended a wedding of one of his co-workers who was Laotian, and I ate many things at the wedding reception that I could not even tell you what it was. Had a fish brought to the table that was LOOKING AT ME, had some squid, some octopus, and other assorted slimy things.

raw shark marinating in its own juices

It smelled as bad as it tasted.
