What's the value of your home?

Thanks, my friend's house is such a nice size (older split level, I never knew they could be so big) and layout and I was curious how much we would need for one like that. The prices were off for our house but it still gave me a round figure to plan ahead for, someday.

We get reassessed every year so that the Town won't miss out on a single penny. :sad2: So needless to say, mine is all up to date.

It doesnt have any info for our area yet.

But I know that our local assessors office has all that information, with pictures, online available for anyone to look up. (assessed value, sq footage, bedrooms, sketch of the dimensions of the home, building materials, etc) Actually, the counties around us do to, as we used them A LOT when purchasing our home. The assessed values around here are always lower than the appraised values, and lower than the market value as well.

Do a search for your local city/county assessors office online if this doesnt work for you or has incorrect information.

LOL I updated it with the real number of bathrooms, levels (with the finished full basement with have 3 levels) bedrooms (we have 4 upstairs and one true bedroom in the basement and they now value it at almost 900K. Um, no.

They were fairly on the mark the first time, maybe a little low. If they were close with 900K my DH would insist on selling for sure. He wanted to, anyway, when one of our neighbors sold for over 700K last summer. He told me I could move anywhere in the country I wanted to move, but I told him I wanted to wait until the kids were grown. It hurt, though! :rotfl2:

With mine, it's like they were evaluating the wrong house- they listed ours as a 1 story, 2 bdrm/1bath...since our house is on the historic registry as being a 2 story home, I know that's wrong. But I edited things out, and I think it got the value fairly close, considering what other homes are going for in our area. About $235K. Not bad considering we paid $125K 9 years ago!

Our street doesn't exist yet (the houses started being built almost 4 years ago) and the value is WAY off. DH sent me this the other day. Now, if I could get the money it says the house is worth... we would be sitting pretty.

way way way outdated. It has our house 2 sellers ago, the people we bought from did a little rehab, we did MAJOR rehab. I would guess they are about 100k below what our home is really worth.

ETA - I just checked out my parents home - they live about 4 blocks from us and their house is WAY better than mine.....theirs is listed at 50k under mine and about 225k under the actual value.

ours is out of date as well. We doubled the size of our home last year, so the info listed on this site for our property is really off.

I have a question for everyone. I guess I don't see the value of this site because when I put in my address, it only shows the tax assessed value which is a worthless number because it has nothing to do with the actual value of the home. Is that what everyone sees or does it vary in different places? Do some places actually give an estimated value?

After you type in your address, the next screen should show a map and your address underneath it in blue (a link you can click on). It also shows a ZESTIMATE and square footage etc..

You can also click on your address link to show you more detailed info. About 2 weeks ago we had our house appraised, one was a desktop and the other was a FULL appraisel. The zillow website shows an estimate in between the 2 we got so for us, it's not too far off.

Nope. I just got tax assessed value. Nothing else.

Ok, guess they don't have any info on your house then...oh well, maybe at a later date. It was fun just looking at some of the info.

Once I added our new roof value, it did give me an appraisel that was almost the same as our full-appraisel.

My house is only 7 months old so it's not even showing up. However I looked up the house I sold last year, and it's about 30-40K too high.

As it did when I first put this link up a week or so ago, it was right on with ours and our neighborhood. Great idea.

The only thing it shows is the assessed values. That is pretty much worthless. That is about $225,000 less then what it has appraised at.

I wonder if it is a regional thing. I plugged in numerous houses on my street including ones that have changed hands over the past few years, but only tax assessed values show up, no price estimates.
