What's the situation with water fountains in the parks?

Are there lots of water fountains and do they work in the winter? I seem to remember that very few were working on one winter trip a few years ago... just wondering whether we need to take a bottle of water with us or whether we can just use the fountains as and when.

If it gets really cold they tend to turn them off so the pipes don't freeze etc otherwise they leave them on.

I always start with a bottle of water and then fill it up as the day goes on.

You can also ask for a cup of water when you buy a snack or a coffee :)

Oh, I think regardless I'd take a bottle of water with me.

Having seen people in the bathrooms not washing their hands etc, the idea of putting my mouth anywhere near the water fountains that "these" people are also using put me right off the idea.

I totally agree but I'm also neurotic about things like this, comes from working in dentist's I think :confused3

Apparently though because the water is fresh and free flowing there is very little risk of infection from the water nozzle itself, however the bowl area is a totally different matter as that's where most people put their hands.

Just been curious - How you two do on rides and that then where you are touching surfaces that people who haven't washed their hands have just been ?:confused3

The neck of the bottle never goes anywhere near the spout, I always catch the water midway :)

I never drink with my mouth touching the nozzle - that would gross me out too :) Good point about the pipes freezing Carrie, I hadn't thought of that!

There are always used to be a water fountain in one of the Main Street arcades which was working even when the others were switched off in Winter so its worth checking there

Hand sanitisers, I always carry one otherwise I'd never be able to push a shopping trolley ! And don't get me started on washroom doors that have to be pulled open to exit.

But it's the mouth/saliva thing that grosses me out in my defense I work in an environment where anything that's been anywhere near my mouth and isn't single use has to be rinsed, scrubbed, rinsed again, put through a 2 hour mechanical washing cycle, inspected under a lamp, autoclaved and sealed in a bag before it's allowed anywhere near your mouth. Lol.

Carrie you should see me in restaurants inspecting cutlery I can't help it !

I always move the cutlery out of the way before putting the menu down unlike most people who open a menu on top of their cutlery - I find that really yuck
